Course Curriculum

10

  • So far the coursework has not been very challenging, as most of it has been to create a base for the upcoming years. The first year for management students at Warwick is known to be calm, whereas the next 2 are full of studies. So far I would say more tests and exams are needed, as after boards we get too much of a gap from academics and due to that, going back is tougher. 3-4 classes a day is normal.
  • The earliest class is at 9am and the last is at 6pm. Number of students depends on the type of class. Lectures: 300 students; seminars: 20 Students. About 1100 Indian UG students, with maybe 100 in management.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to the following universities:
    • University of Warwick-—Confirmed Admission
    • University of Bath-—Confirmed Admission
    • University of Exeter-—Confirmed Admission
    • University of Durham-—Confirmed Admission
    • London School of Economics- Rejected-—Due to low predicted scores, criteria around 98 cent
  • Received offers from 4 out of 5 and met the criteria for all 4 after the board exam results and chose Warwick. Warwick Business School was very prestigious for my field and around number 2 in the U.K
  • Location was also favorable, with Leamington Spa and Coventry being 20 minutes by bus and London being 1 hour 30 minutes. Warwick was also the highest-ranked university.
  • Admission process - Applied through UCAS (September) - Waited for conditional offer (arrived by January) - After boards got unconditional after sending marksheet- Accepted offer - Requested for CAS (which is needed to apply for visa) - Received CAS by July
  • The IELTS exam is mandatory for English qualification—a Minimum score of 6 overall. Overall, a very simple admission experience but keep a close track of emails, as that is the only form of communication.
  • I applied for the September intake. Admission process started in August of 2023 and I got my confirmed admission by May 2024. UCAS applications by August and then waiting for conditional and unconditional offers. After that request a CAS and use it to apply for a student visa. Student Visa only applicable for 2 months as soon as you land, you must collect your BRP (*Biometric Resident Permit)

Faculty

8

  • There is usually a module leader who is in charge of all the resources and tests and seminar tutors and lecturers for each module. Mostly one lecture tutor and seminar tutor per module for the entire semester. So far the teaching is very good, as the seminars are very hands-on and the one tutor with 20 students is very favorable. These seminars are key for job-applicable skills, as they give you a challenge to solve with a random group in a time constraint, which prepares you for the future.

Campus Life

10

  • 2 campuses—Central campus and Westwood campus. Campus includes a huge library, which is available online as well. The sports and wellness hub includes a huge gym, rock climbing wall, tennis courts, basketball courts, indoor cricket floors, yoga studio, rowing studio, swimming pools, etc. Warwick health center is also only 10 minutes by walking. You must register yourself before arriving to be allotted your personal GP.
  • Campus societies organize events almost every 2 weeks, from club nights to sundowners to balls and boiler rooms. The student union holds weekly events at the on-campus clubs like the terrace bar and the copper rooms.

Part Time Jobs

  • We have not had any such teaching assistants in many classes and have little knowledge about their positions. There are many on-campus jobs, as there is an organisation called Unitemps which has a centre in Warwick and they offer temporary term-time jobs meant for students. 20 hours a week is the maximum for students. It is competitive, as many students who need extra financing go for such jobs.
  • 10 pounds is approximately the amount students can make in part-time jobs. Depending on the job, the wages might be on the higher side due to working hours. Part-time employment opportunities are several but so is the amount of applications they receive for one job.
  • I do know some of my friends have secured part-time jobs on campus, which have been very convenient to earn on the side. Usually Unitemps and Indeed are the 2 apps used for jobs. You can register with Unitemps Warwick and get sent alerts when a job which matches your description comes up. Indeed has many jobs offered in Coventry and Leamington or even remote ones, which are much easier. The job process starts with your application, usually including a CV and a cover letter. If the jobs are technical in nature, they have assessments set which have to be completed and, lastly, an interview.

Placement

10

  • I am starting my second soon so I have little knowledge about these graduate roles but there is almost a 90 percent placement rate for Warwick students within 3 to 4 months after graduating. Finding jobs after graduating is mostly related to the jobs you have had in the years at university. There are spring insight weeks that are offered in your spring break of first year. Then summer internships in the summer of your second year. Usually these 2 help in cementing a graduate role with the same companies or else there are many sites like Trackr that have live spreadsheets with all internships and jobs from spring and summer to grad roles. Some major companies include KPMG, PWC, Deloitte, and BNP Paribas.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • My accommodation for the first year is on campus. Applied for it on the Warwick accommodation portal. You get an email to do so. Semester-wise rent is 2200 pounds all utilities included, and it has a kitchen and laundromat. The only challenges were the types of dorms-—ensuite and normal. Accommodation is 5 to 10 minutes from all classes by walking. Only a few dorms have rooms with attached bathrooms. For 2nd and 3rd years, accommodation in Leamington Spa is the most common place. Student accommodations like Station House, Vita etc.

Exams

  • The only exam required was IELTS for English language qualification. The IELTS minimum overall score accepted is 6. You needed to add your Statement of Purpose and 3 LORs to your application. No interview was required. The IELTS score was 8.5 out of 9 for me. IELTS has 4 skills- Speaking, reading, writing and hearing. Minimum for each part is 5.5 out of 9.

Fees

  • Tuition fees – 32,000 pounds yearly
  • Accommodation fees – 9,000 pounds (first year dorm)
  • Fees can be paid at any time or in instalments. Advance payment is an option.
  • Estimated monthly expenses: 800-900 pounds, largely dependent on lifestyle, as I cannot cook. More expenses of mine are on food. Buses are very cheap, only 2 pounds per trip, whereas Ubers and cabs are very expensive. Regular events such as club nights or sundowners cost 10-20 pounds.

Scholarship

  • I did not apply for or receive any scholarships. None of my batchmates have scholarships but I recall there was an option regarding financial aid. The scholarships are pretty rare and must have strict criteria. There is a Global Excellence scholarship, which has many branches, with some including full fees or other benefits. I believe around 400 students receive scholarships every year.
