- Too hectic with the attendance criteria.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is great, the level by level prepare us for the real life career and also hold workshops occasionally to give u exposure to real life crime scenes in a controlled manner. Although they can still enhance it by making it more realistic and adding outdoor visits.
Internships Opportunities
Students are encouraged to do Internships from 2nd sem onwards, including summer internships. Teachers share such opportunities with students to apply for. It is usually paid internship, so forget getting a stipend. Although the internship you do in your final year earns you stipend . I don't know the amount but it's average for B.Sc. students as far as I know.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly fees is 54000, which is comparatively quite reasonable than other colleges. Professors actually teach except few that just read out of ppts. But you will find helpful professors to guide you through your academic journey and for ahead in your career. Gender ratio is more or less equal among both teachers and students, if anything, female students are present in more number. Scholarship is not very available but may be given to some meritorious or those who actually need it after qualifying some criteria. The classrooms are not very nice so don't keep expectations of high tech classrooms in our department atleast not yet. But the field is developing and so is the department at JNU ????????
Campus Life
Cultural fest technoraaz is held every year in September end for 3 days. A no. Of books and journals are available in library and to be honest that's all you need to study from to get your degree. E library sources like notel and swayam are too recommended by faculties. Extra curriculars are active here and we have all players in our batch too, be it badminton, volleyball, cricket, etc.. Clubs are active but joining clubs is one big hell of a deal, no one tells you where to go, how to join, even our 3rd sem seniors still hasn't figured out how to join a club. Although club activities are being held regularly but students keep wondering how to join.
Hostel Facilities
Facilities in room is great. We can choose whatever type of occupancy room we desire. Single/2/3/4 occupancy. Mess food is just like any other mess, barely edible. Registration process is easy. For affordability, money paid is much more than the facilities provided. It is better to live outside in pg/appartment. But the locality outside is not very safe either. And good surroundings are kinda far from uni.
Admission
I want to be a scientist but couldn't make it to iiser, later figured forensic science can too be a way to reasearch science and hence looked for colleges that actually teach and not the usual college culture where we have to study ourselves entirely. JNU was one such place where teachers actually taught with responsibility so was my shortlisted uni.
Faculty
Almost all teachers are very knowledgeable and teach really well except few that just read out of ppt. We are assigned mentors for all kinds of issue resolution, one mentor is assigned to 12-14 students. We can approach any faculty during their free time and ask our queries. Everyone is really helpful. Some faculties just gets mad for no or silliest reason at the students and that is one con. The course is semester wise and the curriculum is commendable. Books in the library are all we need.
Interview Experience
Admissions are based on 12th board percentage and cuet scores. In some courses and admission test is taken which is also not very difficult to crack so all the best. It's a private uni so admission process is not that difficult.
Night Life
Gym, library, and sports ground closes at 7pm while cafeterias close around 9-9:20. Hostel gates close around 9:15 as well. This I think is very wrong as students should not have a hostel curfew, a campus curfew is enough. Campus curfew is of 7.30 pm. We should be allowed to roam around in campus as and when we wish to, campus should be safe even at night and so should library and gym be available 24/7 like other universities. This is one big problem that I and my fellow hostellers face here. Specially at girls hostel in SADTM campus. Hostel curfews should be removed. And gym library and cafeteria should be open 24/7 .
Other Applied Colleges
Teerthanker Mahaveer University - [TMU] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Forensic Sciences)
Availability of hostel was not as per my convenience when I applied for it.
