Course Curriculum Overview
The course covers all the modern and traditional aspects of pharmacy. But the real world application seems a bit weak. There's less time spent of product making, introduction to industries, communication skills. But they do prepare you academically for higher education and compititive exams. Teaching methods could have been better rather than just recommending books and writing notes on board. Exams are held frequently. Students have to prepare for both theory and practicals including vivas. I chose this course and college because I had to stay here with my parents and b pharm seemed like a good career option.
Fees and Financial Aid
My fees per semester (b pharma) is around 38500 rupees along with 1000 rupees for main examination form. So it's around 40000 per semester. Yearly, it's around 80,000 rupees because it takes an year to complete two semesters. It takes 4 years to complete b pharm degree hence, it costs 3 lakh 20 thousand for 8 semesters. Students in d pharmacy have to pay around 50,000 for each year. Their course only lasts for 2 years. The registration fees for my course costs 300 rupees. Everything else(lab fees, admission fess, tuition fess, etc) is included in the 38,500 rupees they ask for during the admission. There are scholarships available for sc/st and obc students that gives them around 35,000 rupees. All my other batchmates pay the same fees( all castes)
Campus Life
There are two events held each year which are fresher's party (all funds given by senior students) and world pharmacy day fest (funds given by authorities). Both events are held between September to December and are mostly managed by the students. Currently, there are no official sports events held. Library for our own department has to be opened by the permission of teachers and has a wide variety of books for every semester. There is a bigger library for studying open for everyone. Technological aspect is weak. Teachers use traditional chalk and borad to teach.
Admission
I didn't apply to any other colleges because my parents didn't want me to go to other state. I chose this college because it was comparatively cheaper than others. Admission process for my course was done through merit basis. Admission was fairly quick and easy. We just submitted copied of my documents (marksheet, migration, etc) and paid the fees for first semester. Classes started after a month of admission.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is 1:50. Teachers are kind, supporting and approachable. There are main exams which decide your grades in degree. They are of 75 marks along with 25 marks worth of internal assessments (sessional exam+attendance). Both sessional exams and main exams follow same pattern. 10 numbers for long answers, 5 marks for short answers, objective type questions carrying 1 mark each. Exams are moderately difficult. Many students get backs but answer sheets can be reevaluated.
Night Life
I personally don't know how the college is like at nighttime as I live 20 km away from the college and the campus is closed at night. But in my opinion, the college would be scary at night as it is basically a jungle with variety of wildlife(new campus not old). There is a badminton court, cricket ground, volleyball court for students. I wouldn't recommend for anyone to hang out at night in the campus. There are no good cafe nearby and the college doesn't have one either. Just a few food stalls and that's it.
