Course Curriculum Overview

4

The inclusion of practical lab sessions, research oriented projects and interdisciplinary electives stood out to me. I also appreciated the focus on soft skills and value based education through add on course and seminars, whuch made programs feel more professional. Frequent lab works, industrial visits, guest lectures and national, international conferences gave a sense of how concepts translate outside the classroom. The internships and the project work in the final year mimic real research and environment, fostering problem solving, team work and analytical skills that are invaluable in both professional and academic settings.

Internships Opportunities

5

Many students have landed paid or fully funded internship or research with reputed organisations and research institutes often with stipend. Several students have been selected for fully funded summer internships at IISc Bangalore, various IITs and national research centres under programs like Indian Academy of Sciences Summer Research Fellowship. These opportunities have provided practical insights, networking and in many cases pre placement offers or strong reference for future academic pursuits

Placement Experience

4

At St Aloysius University, students typically become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester onward. Reputed companies like Infosys, wipro, TCS etc have visited the campus offering multiple roles in IT services, research and analytics. The highest package has been around 7-8 LPA while the average has been around 3-4 LPA depending on the company and the profile of the student. Around 60-70% of eligible students secure placement each year

Fees and Financial Aid

St Aloysius College, Mangalore lists its B.Sc course fees at roughly 62,700 per year for most general category students with specialised program as Data science or Biotechnology ranging from ?1.49 to ?5.6 lakh for full three year course. The NRI students pay between 79,700 to 1,09,200 per year for B.sc programs depending on the combination. Those opting for the extra languages such as French, Malayalam or additional English are charged extra 7000 to 8000 per year. Students from reserved categories or economically weaker sections can apply for government post matric or minority scholarships and the college itself offers various endowments along with metric cum need programs such as Vidwath spoorthi, Vidya Spoorthi and Kreeda spoorthi.

Campus Life

5

The College hosts vibrant annual events like Aloysian fest, a national and international level undergraduate fest a held in early month of the year, Kalothsava in august and the annual sports meet in the month of February. The library is well stocked with over 24,000 thousand books, 80+ journals and access to e-resources like DELNET, ProQuest and IEEE making research materials highly accessible. The university actively promotes sports with facilities for athletics, basketball, football, cricket, volleyball, badminton and more along with an Olympic standard swimming pool. Students enjoy a rich extracurricular life through 35 co-curricular and 22 extra curricular clubs like NCC ( Army, Navy and Air) NSS, Red Cross, Dance, Theatre, Toast masters which organises cultural and social events.

Admission

I did not apply to any other college besides St Aloysius College as it was my first choice. I did not apply elsewhere so there were no other admissions or rejections. I chose St Aloysius for its strong academic reputation, experienced faculty and balanced curriculum with practical exposures and value based learning

Faculty

5

The faculty students relationship is found to be one of the colleges strongest aspects as the lecturers are approachable and genuinely invested in students wellbeing by often taking time outside scheduled classes to to clarify the concepts, offer guidance and share additional resources. Departments are well qualified and inspiring who connect classroom theory with practical, real world learning, making the subject engaging and relevant. The course curriculum is well regarded for being current, structured and balanced between theoretical knowledge and hands on experience.

Night Life

5

The gym on campus is open in the early morning and the evenings. The Olympic standard swimming pool is available from Tuesday to Sunday in morning and evening batches. As for the library hours, the UG and the PG libraries operates on working days from 8.00 am to 5.30 pm. As for hangouts the locality around kodialbail is considered safe especially in college areas.

Indian Institute of Science - [IISc], Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematics)

Course Curriculum Overview:

There wasn't really any. It was mostly the friendliness of the profs that pulled me into maths. Do note that in IISc, the first three semesters are common and you pick majors after that. The maths curriculum prepares you for a future in either industry or academia. Moreover, one can take courses in other departments to help their industry pursuits. Only way would be to make some courses more interactive, but this hasn't been a problem for me personally. Most high level courses have two exams. Sometimes not even that. And exams generally aren't difficult for someone who has kept up with the course.

After Msc forensic science the annual package in an average here is 2-5 lakhs. Almost 80% of forensic students get placement here. As iam pursuing my bachelors here, iam thinking of writing the entrance exam for NFSU gujarath for my Masters.

Placement Experience:

Our university has a training and placement office for the fourth and fifth year students. Before that you need to find internship opportunities yourself. The significant companies include EY, MoSpi, RBI, NSE etc. The is around 50% placements. The highest package was around 40 lakhs and the lowest 5 lakhs. I plan on working in the RBI after my degree.
