- Hostel maintenance is bad. No proper source of clean water and hostel food is just below average.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is quite good as it covers almost all the important topics along with real life applications. The subjects are well planned, starting from the basics of automobile engineering to modern advancements in this field. Practical lab sessions and projects make the learning useful and help us get ready for the real world work. The internal exams and test, however, feel a bit hectic as the gap between them is short, so increasing the interval would be better
Internships Opportunities
Our college provides good internship opportunities from around 4th semester. Companies like ICF, L & T and more companies offer internship in the manufacturing sector with stipends starting at Rs 10000
Placement Experience
We are still in our 2nd year, so we haven't directly experienced placements yet, but based on what our seniors have told us, the placements in our college are quite strong. Many well known companies like Amazon, Zoho, TCS, L&T and TVS visit the campus offering both IT and core oppurtunities. The highest packages have gone above 50 LPA while the average is around 5 LPA depending upon the branch. For core branches like Automobile Compaines such as TVS, Ashok Leyland and many companies have recruited students in the range of 3-6 LPA. Placement training has started for us this year where they teach us coding languages to prepare for placements. Placements start mostly in the 7th semester
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fee that I pay under the Management quota is Rs. 1,00,000 , which comes to a total of Rs. 4,00,000 for the complete 4 year course. The structure is evenly divided into four categories namely - Tution fees, E-Learning fees, Books fees and CDC fees. Each Rs. 25,000 per year. CDC (Career Development Course) fees are for placement training, where they prepare us for aptitude, interviews and other placement related skills. Sometimes in labs, if we break any material or apparatus, the college asks us to pay extra for that, but it is not included in the yearly fees. Students who join though Government quota (TNEA Counselling) pay around Rs 1,30,000 per year which is 30,000 more than management fees which is really strange. There are also scholarships available. In my class, two students have got full scholarships from a foundation and they do not have to pay any fees at all for their studies. So, yes there is a financial help for sutdents who qualify. Overall, the fee is fixed and does not icnrease every year and the structure is clear to undertsand.
Campus Life
Our college conducts many events throughout the year, starting with department symposiums around August-September, where each department hosts both technical and non technical acitivites. There are also regular cultural programs and concerts especially during Onam, Pongal and other. Celebrity walk ins are also there during these events. One of the most exciting events is Swagat, the annual freshers welcome, which includes concerts, DJ night and various fun acitivites. The library has two floors with a wdie collection of bookts that are easily available. The classrooms are above average. A clasroom includes projectors, proper tables, large blackboards and good ventilation though not very modern. For extracurriculars, there are several active clubs such as NSS, Rotract, Entrepreneurship and many more which give students a good experience outside academics. While we dont have a dedicated sports period, the college does encourage sports by organizing competitions and sending students to participate in events hosted by other colleges.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel provides basic facilities like a reading table, chair, cupboard for each student and a cot with around 3 students sharing a room. The meals in the mess are only average in taste though the variety is fairly good. One major issue is with the water supply as drinking water and tap water are often not clean and sometimes dont come properly. The registration process was simple but the hostel fee is very high at around Rs 1,80,000 per year which feels really expensive for the above facilities.
Admission
I had only applied to Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College, Perambalur, but I cancelled the seat beacuse the staff there did not seem very friendly and the campus looked quite old. I chose Easwari Engineering Colleg because of its good placement oppurtunites and the friendly relationship between staff and students. The admission process here is fairly simple. The eligibility varies for each course, for Automobile Engineering the minimum requirement was 55% in 12th standard. Admission can be taken either through management quota or through TNEA counselling based on cutoff marks. My admission process was smooth and only required filling out some basic form with personal details
Faculty
There are many faculty members in the college, and the student-to-faculty ratio is quite good. The faculty are very helpful and easy to approach. They guide students whenever needed, especially during exams. You can ask them questions anytime and they will explain everything clearly. They are very friendly and make sure you understand all the topics. OVerall, every staff memeber is good in their own way Each semester has about 6 to 8 subjects. Some of them are lab subjects usual 2-3 and rest are theory. This year our curriculm was changed so that the theory topics we learn in class are also practiced in lab. This way the theory is applied in the lab on the same topics Exams are not too hard or too easy. They are moderate, if you study properly its easy to pass but however many fail due lazziness of not studying.
Interview Experience
There was no formal intervieew or group discussion. Only a few basic questions were asked regarding my personal interests and my school academic marks. The admission process was mainly based on merit, so no seperate written test for technical round was conducted
Night Life
NIghtlife insdie the campus is limited as the libaray, cafeteria and other areas close by 7-8pm and hostel in time is around 9pm. Most students hang out nearby places such as Forum Vijaya Mall and any nearby cafe's or restuarants near Ramapuram. The locality is safe to roam around in the night for any snacks or to have dinner outside
