What Students Say
Likes
- Some courses have really good teachers, like they're really frank and make the topics easily understandable
- The amount of greenery and animals in my campus is lovely, students love to spend time with dogs and puppies or simply just sit under the shade of trees.
- Students get various opportunities in almost all the fields. One or the other day there's always some session going on for different opportunities..
Dislikes
- There are also some teachers who can't really explain well, and there class becomes so boring you'd want to skip it
- The prices of goods in the departmental store or simply just in canteens for food is quite high, not as u would expect, and it's quite a challenge for hostellers
- For day scholars, there's not a single day that u can't face traffic while going from the village around which amity is located. The traffic management system is really poor, sometimes we even end up being late for class due to it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The main reason behind my admission here was because of an integrated program they were providing, i.e. B.com honours Integrated with ACCA, in collaboration with ISDC. However the ACCA faculty is not actually as good as I expected, most of the times it's difficult to understand the concepts and plus it's been conducted in online mode. They say 30 students atleast is mandatory for offline classes but For us who want to study ACCA, it's kind of difficult in the online mode. For the course classes at amity, The teachers sometimes do use projector and ppts and it's quite good a method. For exams. The difficulty level is not that high. A student can easily crack them if they have prepared the basic concepts of the modules
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements in the 5th semester at minimum. The university arranges a number of companies for the placements, however the pavkages may vary, some packages may be quite low and some quite reasonable, but it entirely depends on the student being employed what package they're offered based on their capabilities. The highest package is as high as 34 LPA and lowest may be as low as 2 LPA. The university ensures all its students get placement and repeatedly calls companies for students who are left out for placements. These may include MNCs as well as local companies which are not so heard of. After getting the degree, I too plan on getting a placement
Fees and Financial Aid
Technically the fees for my course that is b.com (honours with research) is 161,000 over the 1st whole year, divided as 80,000 for the first semester and 81000 for the second semester. As for me, I have received a 50% scholarship which is applicable for students scoring above 90% in 12th. Apart from that, there's scholarships of 25% and 100% applicable for students scoring above 80% and 95% respectively. The academic fees as I mentioned is 80,000 and 81,000 and there is security fees of 15000 that u have to pay at the time of admission. Apart from this, the fees is same for all except in cases of scholarships
Campus Life
My campus life is as I expected it to be at the time of admission. I've found a couple of people who match my energy and my seniors are lovely. I find my friends in them. However, overall speaking, the crowd in amity is more of the village side and hence it's quite common to see fights quite often, usually these are taken care of by the marshals, who are actually retired army persons. Amity organises intra-university events like Sangathan (a sports event), Garba Nights, and inter-university event like Amifest every year, which is a huge festival inviting huge participation from students. There are a number of clubs and societies students can join and become a part of. They have a sports complex consisting of fields for almost every sport u name. The library is huge and beautiful and there are couch as well to make your reading cozy
Admission
Initially I applied for IIMs and DU colleges, amity was just a backup plan for me. I had got admission in Maitreyi college in DU but It was b.com simple and not actually b.com honours. I had to take all the advantages and disadvantages doing a b.com course and ACCA in DU, but I chose amity over DU as I was getting 9 exemptions in amity , out of the total 13 papers. Also, I could not make it to the IIMs, I could not clear the cutoff for the general category and I could clear the cut off for iim jammu and bodhgaya but I coild not make it to the waitlist even. So i had to drop out of those options and stick to this backup plan.
Faculty
The course has actually been divided properly and faculties are Cooperative as well. It's like if u maintain a good reputation of urself in the eyes of teachers, u get help from them whenever needed, and it is in fact universal. Exams are conducted as mid semester exams and the final exams. For the first year students, the final exams are usually conducted in the afternoon slot and as for the higher students, it ia conducted in the morning slot. The faculty are approachable, u can find them whenever in the faculty room. Some of the best faculties I felt over my time here were in the b.tech and law departments. The number of exams depends on the number of subjects u have, it varies from course to course. Usually the teachers help the students pass the exams but in rare cases, they may have no option but to fail them. Also the course curriculum is relevant for each level of semester
Night Life
The night view of amity is utterly beautiful. The lights make it seem like a palace. The cafeterias close by 9 pm and the library closes by 9 or 9:30 pm, and opens again at 9 or 9:30 am. Hostels are huge and clean. The in-timings for the campus in morning can be as early as 6 am while the classes start at 9:30 am and the last class would end by 4:45 pm. The area inside campus is safe to roam around, however the road outside is desolate and it may be quite dangerous and unsafe to go out alone. There have been quite a bad news as well regarding the safety of girls
