Remarks
Overall , college , St. Andrews College , Gorakhpur is good college. Based on its academic excellence and discipline standards , i would say , this is the best college you can get in gorakhpur and that too at such minimal fees. And if along with a proper self study , the demerit of not completion of syllabus can also be overcame.
Course Curriculum Overview
According to me, as i'm witnessing it for past two years , the syllabus of BSc is not that vast but the books have everything. So, what happens is , if you're studying from books alone , may be you're giving your time to something which is not even going to come into your examination. So , a balance of class lectures+notes and books is necessary. Here, in St. Andrews College, teachers are very well qualified having a deep knowledge of corresponding subjects provide proper lecture and notes also to the students and they explain everything too in detail. But , the negative point is that they do not complete syllabus fully not because they don't want or they don't teach but because of a lot holidays and functions in colleges which affect the classroom environment and teacher does not get enough time to cover full syllabus. But whatever they manage to cover or whatever they teach , they give their hundred percent which benefits students a lot.
Internships Opportunities
No, St. Andrews College, Gorakhpur does not provide internships. You have to study here , take your degrees and then apply for your respective jobs. But , if you want to become teacher here , you can apply in your own college too. There are few teachers who have graduated from this college only and they are doing very well.
Placement Experience
This college is very well established and a quite reputed college in Gorakhpur. If you have studied properly and have taken your degrees smoothly, you are eligible to apply for any job of your field of interest , obviously as per your degrees. Then , everything is up to you that how are you taking up your opportunity into your career. This college does not have any placement programs. You yourself have to apply in your interested fields after going out from here.
College Events
There are many events which are being celebrated in our college. This include all National Festivals , Departmental functions where every department like physics , maths, chemistry etc. organises their own functions and award meritorious students of their subject of various quizes and all exams. Then , there is Foundation Week of college , celebrated in tha last week of November every year.Fashion show , Fancy dress competition, science exhibition, art -jewellery -dress exhibitions , NCC-ROWER RANGERS - NSS camps are also there. Literary fest including book exhibition is also celebrated. Then , various singing dancing acting stand up comedy competitions are also hel time to time.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees in comparison to the other colleges of this rank , is very low but not that much , yes , it's feasible. The fees for bsc in first year is around 4k or more something and in second year also , it is around 4k. So , i think it's affordable and feasible too.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no scholarship or loan facility available. I think that is because of low fees of courses offered in this college , or may be because of any other reason , but there is no scholarship or loan facility available here.
Campus Life
Extracurrricular activities inuding various sports meet are often held. Labs here are also well maintained and contained with good quality apparatus for performing various experiments. Teachers here also supports student in learning how to perform the experiment.
Hostel Facilities
This college lacks high quality hostel infrastructure facility. Three students are accomodated in a single room. Further , hostel's food is also tasteless. I would not recommend to live in hostel here , rather you can live outside by taking rooms on rent.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is quite good. Senior students are helpful and full suppurtive in nature (few exceptions exists). Sometimes , they can also offer their notes , if they have , to you if you're in an urgent need of it. They celebrate also with their juniors in their farewell parties. They also arrange freshers party to welcome their juniors.
Exam Structure
First few months goes into studies studies and only studies. Then , we have an exam something like unit test you can say. Then , after a month or so , another exam call " Pre-University Test (PUT)" is conducted. This is to check your preparation that how well you are prepared for upcoming final examinations. And finally , in the month of March-April , final exams are held. Question paper for first test and PUT is prepared by teachers of the college itself and for final examinations, it comes from University to which college is affiliated i.e. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University. Also , only the marks of final exams reflect on your marksheet. Occasionally, quizes of various subjects are also held by their respective departments.
Admission
Firstly, I bought it's application form , filled and submitted and after few day they sent me my admit card via post for the coming entrance exam. I gave it's exam where the question paper was quite good and was in both languages hindi and English. The questions were all from 11th 12th class topics. Then , results declared, i checked my roll number which showed 12th rank of mine in that entrance exam. Then, with all the necessary documents college required , i visited college for counselling and document verification. After all this, they admitted me and provided two days time to pay the required fees.
Faculty
College faculty is way better than any other colleges in gorakhpur. They are very well qualified, having a deep knowledge and grasp over their subjects , and very supportive as well. They never fail to maintain a healthy for studies and discussions among students in the class and love to hear questions from students. Always ready to clear your doubts anytime anywhere. Only problem is that they don't manage to cover the whole syllabus and thatto is not their fault, they don't get enough classes to take because of college's activities.
