Likes
- The college really focuses on the course and also provide hands on experience on what they teach in theory. They try their best so that they can teach the practical application of whatever we study in our theory.
- The faculty is highly professional with everyone being PhD holders in their respective departments. There extremely friendly to the students and also try to create environment in the class were each and every student can participate.
- They conduct many seminars and webinars with National and international institute for collaboration so that the student can work with those institute to furnished their skills which they study.
Dislikes
- The campus is really very small the labs and libraries are also quite compressed the library only consist of the basic academic books. Basic things like canteen and ATM machine is also not in the campus.
- Other co-curricular activities like sports and cultural activities are not given much importance. The student clubs are also very unorganised, no effort is made to furnish the non academic skill in the students.
- Students who are coming from other state may feel it difficult to reside in the college because there is a sense of discrimination among the Telugu and non Telugu students and groupism can also be seen on the basis of linguistic background.
Course Curriculum Overview
This course includes 5 branches like food nutrition textile and apparel designing resource management and interior designing psychology and human studies and rural development and extension. Community science basically deals with the application based science for the development of community. As we are given the choice to select any core subject you can choose the subject from the above 5 with which you resignate the most. This course is completely application based and the jobs in which we will be engaging through this course are also the pure application of the theory which we study. However I feel that practical classes should be more than the number of theoretical classes. There are only four exams per year that is two exam per semester which is quite easy also so it does not take much effort for preparing for the exams.
Internships Opportunities
According to the core subject you choose, the college will set up internship opportunities for you which will be paid, different internships are given to students on the basis of the subject. The students who choose food nutrition is given internship in food safety corporation etc, students who have chosen for extension get a internship opportunity in the rural development institutions which are generally government institution or mass media companies and likewise. There is a hierarchical level in all the five department in the scores the highest being food nutrition followed by extension followed by resource management and interior designing followed by human development and psychology and the last being textiles and apparel designing. The amount paid in the internship is generally around 20000 to 25000 per month.
Placement Experience
There is no campus placement in our college but internship are arranged for the students in the fourth year this course is a four year course where 3 years are for the theoretical knowledge and the last year is for internship which is the paid internship. The college have many tie up with National institute like NAAM and MGNREGA. However with just a graduation degree you can get a job of around 50000 per month but if you go for MSc and PHD the job opportunity spikes up to around 2 lakhs per month where you can apply for research fellow or teaching profession. Generally the students after this course start their own ventures and some also join other companies and specially government institute. This course basically prepares you for government jobs in institute like NABARD, NAAM, FOOD SAFETY CORPORATION, ETC. Personally I have planned for applying in NABARD for which another entrance exam have to be given.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is taken semester wise and it fluctuates with each semester according to the number of subjects, on an average per year the fees can be up to 50000. And this includes all the fees like caution fees, registration fees, lab fees, stationery fees all is included within the 50000 only. There is no concession on the basis of the category you belong to. However other than this fees you have to pay for your books and other supplies you need separately. Scholarship is also provided there is two type of scholarship one for the non Andhra Pradesh student who come from other state they can apply from CUET exam through ICAR, here a stipend system is followed where we can get back up to 90% (i.e. 18000 per semester which means 36000) per year of the tuition fees paid. But we must get above 7.5 GP. The other type of scholarship is for the Andhra Pradesh student which is distributed under government scheme for student where they get 10000 per year.
Campus Life
There is absolutely no fest and events in this college except freshers farewell and college day however there are many academic based fest and events are conducted like the agritech fest etc. A lot of events on the basis of academic perspective is conducted once in every while. The library is very compact with only the basic academic book, novels and fantasy or other genre of books are not available. The classes are pretty decent with projector smart board and Wi-Fi in every class however air conditioner is not available. Sports and other co curricular activities are not given much importance there is no specialised classes or training for improvising the non curricular skill among the students. However regular intramurals and inter College competitions are conducted where students can participate but due to the lack of practice and infrastructure for clubs and sports students generally do not perform nice in those competitions from our college. The campus life is very boring there is no source of entertainment within the campus the student clubs are also very unorganised there is few student run social group on social media like YouTube and Instagram which is not very popular even among the students of the college itself.
Admission
So I wrote CUET exam and applied in different colleges through ICAR. I applied in the colleges which deals with agriculture horticulture pisciculture and community science. I was more inclined toward agriculture and all the branches of agriculture. I applied for many colleges but my top priority was Rani Lakshmi Bai Central agriculture University but I didn't able to get a seat in that colleges due to my low score in the entrance exam. Other than the college I am currently studying I also got a seat in Manipur but due to the political riots going on there at that time I rejected that college. After the ICAR counselling, once you pay the fees and you get your allotment letter you have to go to the college before the given time for physical counselling and there you have to submit all original documents and if you opt for hostel the hostel fees and the college registration fees and then you will be enrolled in the college. But if you are a Andhra Pradesh student then you can also apply in this college just through your intermediate marks which is generally above 70%. In case of ICAR exam for general category a rank of 10000 to 15000 can also get you a seat in this college.
Faculty
The faculty is highly profficient who are PhD holders in the respective departments. There are total of five departments in the college and in each department there is the HOD, assistant professor and teaching associates and lab assistant. The teachers are extremely friendly with the student who can be approached at any time there always open to student to help them regarding academic and non academic problems they always try their best to create a friendly environment where the student can get comfortable to participate and put their input in class discussions. After joining the college orientation classes are conducted where insight about every department is given to the student from which the student can choose their core subject which they will be majorly studying. Personally I am more inclined toward the extension department and so the assistant professor of the department Dr. Dhanashree is my favourite, she maintains a highly interactive class and I find it very easy to understand and it does not take me any more effort to study separately for that subject also, she is very friendly and I feel I can reach out to her about anything at any time. Per semester two exam are conducted one is mid semester and the other one is semester final exam so per year there are four exams. All the question comes from the previous year papers and textbook only. The course is not very difficult the exam are quite easy even if you study a week earlier than the exam you can easily score nice marks.
Night Life
Firstly there is no hostel for boys hostel is only available for girls the hostel is very near to the college. The college and hostel is bounded with the security guard and CCTV camera so it makes it quit safe. The students are not allowed to go outside with out the permission of their advisor and parents even for a single visit you have to take permission every single time. There is no cafeteria or no source of entertainment where the students can unwind a little after the stressful day in the classes the library is also closed along with the closing time of the college there is no gymnasium however there is a playground if you want to have a small walk. The hostel gates are closed after 10 so you can't even step out of the building after 10 o'clock at night. It's a closed campus so no outsider can come inside without permission. Ordering of food from outside is also prohibited. It feels like being stuck in two buildings where there is absolutely nothing.
