- The availability of well quaified and experienced faculty deeply helps students to understand complex topics very easily. The placements offered through the university are really good and the faculty efficiently guides us.
- Since a lot of international students also study here we get to learn about various cultures and the university hosts programmes so that every person gets to express their culture. The people are friendly and make u feel at home.
Dislikes
- Though the faculty is well qualified and experienced some of the lack advanced english speaking skills, sometimes making it a visible barrier to understand a topic. It would really helped if they worked on that.
- As heard from my fellow batchmates who reside in hostels, the food quality is sometimes not up to the par which affects their health. It would be great if they prepared decent meals for the hostelers and made sure of the health factor.
Course Curriculum Overview
The entire curriculum for each semester is meticulously crafted, taking into consideration the course that each student has opted to pursue. I have opted for Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and so, in my opinion, the curriculum is well crafted to help me pursue a career in this field. The management also has recently started offering Global Certification Courses for students further exposing us to our respective fields. This provides us with hands-on training as well trained professionals from renowned companies are invited to guide us We have weekly tests to evaluate our understanding of the subjects and the mid-semester and end-semester exams serve their purpose too.
Placement Experience
When students enter the last year i.e. 4th year they are eligible for campus placements. Various renowned companies and MNCs are invited to hire talented individuals from the college. The appearing students should fulfil the criteria that each company has set for them. Some of the companies that visit the campus to hire students are: Amazon, Nestle, Microsoft, Google, and many more. Out of all the students that are selected to appear for the campus interview almost 80% of them get hired with good packages ranging from 15 lakhs per annum to 40 lakhs per annum. After learning about this information regarding campus interviews and placements I plan to secure a spot in those 80% of students and my vision is to work in one of the MNCs.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total amount of tuition required to be paid is 1,75,000 per year. This includes tuition, registration, development, lab fees, and other mandatory charges for course completion. Since I have not opted for a hostel I am charged with transportation expenses of about 22,000 per year. This fee structure is static and will not change for the next four years until the completion of my course. My batchmates also have to pay a similar amount as tuition fees.
Campus Life
The management of Parul University holds various events for various departments. For engineering and IT students, various hackathons are arranged which typically happen in September and May. There are various cultural events including dance programs, singing competitions and literature-related events to encourage students to practice their hobbies. For medical Students visits of various medical professionals are arranged so they can gain some insight into what their profession might look like. Student tours are held taking students to various programs where they can learn more about their profession and gain exclusive insight from the professionals working in the same field as them. They are various student clubs that are run by senior students Some of them are: cultural club, literature club and many more. In conclusion, campus life is very lively and exciting where you get to experience new things every day.
Admission
After completing my 12th Boards I applied to a bunch of colleges and gave various exams to get a seat. I took the JEE exam as I wanted to go to IIT to pursue the same degree that I do now but unfortunately, I couldn't as I didn't get enough score to be selected for the advanced JEE exam. The other government colleges that I had applied to had a certain quota reserved for students from different regions and since I had to shift to a new city altogether that proved to be a hurdle. One such college that I had previously applied to before Parul University was the Maharaja Sayajirao College in Vadodara. I chose Parul University because I had good things about it and their placement scheme was well-known among people so I opted for this college. The admission process is pretty simple. They brief you about the fee structure for the course that you want to take on your first visit and give you a campus tour. Then on the second visit (if you didn't proceed prior) they assign an intern who efficiently guides you through the admission process from the fee payment to briefing you about the exam structure and other pieces of information that might come in handy in future.
Faculty
The faculty members are kind, approachable, and always willing to help us resolve our doubts. The faculty-to-student ratio can be considered to be 6:1, given that we have 6 subjects per semester and exclude any extra faculty members who may be assigned to us for lab sessions. The relationship between students and faculty is quite friendly as the faculty members often crack jokes to lighten the mood and try to make it an interactive session. Since currently my 2nd semester is going on, the faculty members I had so far were good so there's no one that I would label as faculty members that I dislike. Going toward the exam pattern. The university follows a credit system with credits ranging from 2 to 4 according to the subject. A lecture per hour awards you 2 credits and a lab session per 2 hours awards you 1 credit. The marking scheme is divided into external and internal components. The internal component consists of mid-semester exams, assignments, attendance and term work submission. The external component consists of final exam and practical exam-taking by external faculty.
Night Life
The campus has a gym and various cafeterias inside. Some of the hostel buildings are located outside the campus while the majority of them are inside. The hostel gates close around 9:30 pm. Until then the students are free to go around the campus and hang out with their friends. After the classes get over at 4:45 pm the students are given a two-hour slot to go out of the campus with the strict rule to be back within those two hours without them. If any event is there until late then only the gates are opened. One of the famous hangout spots on campus is a place called the capitol where students can order food for themselves along with their friends and hangout. Another spot is Greenzy which is a big open cafeteria and true to its name surrounded by greenery and trees where you can spend your leisure time in peace. The locality is safe to roam around at night with little to no risks. These amazing facilities make living away from your families for an extended period a little bearable.
