Course Curriculum Overview
BCA is not relevant anymore. BCA is like new BA, but a sophisticated one. Everybody's doing BCA nowadays. I can't figure out the reason. But skill based learning is lacking and sadly this course is providing nothing but degree holding unskilled graduates (most of them). Though some who really explore the skills and work on themselves are achieving good jobs.
Fees and Financial Aid
Annual fees for the three year course of BCA is around 28000 Rs per annum, (For General and OBC category). SC Students don't need to pay the full fee, college provides facility for SC students to apply for Dr. B.R Ambedkar scholarship. Most of the fees for SC students is exempted. They pay 2-3 K per annum. Female student pay 1 or 2 K lesser than male students.
Campus Life
There's an annual function day for prize distribution and a farewell party every year for both computer and commerce department. Farewell is celebrated seperately for both the departments. Students participate in youth festival every year. You can get most of the books from your coursework from the library. Librarian is friendly. There are no social groups in the college. There is NSS in the college only. Canteen food is horrible.
Admission
The college is well known for its reputation for accepting high merit students. So the students only with marks more than 90% usually get admission in the college. You have to apply on centralized portal called punjab admission portal to get admission into the college, if you're shortlisted you will be contacted by college to do other formalities. I got the college in my first round of counselling. My rank was 14 among all the 126 students.
Faculty
Student to teacher ratio is usually 1 to 60, Professors are really nice and hard working, but the have to finish the syllabus, so they teach so fast. Professors are really helpful when you ask them out for any kind of help. I'm sure that computer faculty is nicest one in the college. There are 2 mid semester tests for each subject and one final exam per semester.
Night Life
There is no nightlife in the college. College is working in the day only. You can experience the night life in the college if you're attending NSS camps for a week in the college. Night stay is allowed for only boys in that camp. Girls are prohibited.
