What Students Say
Likes
- First place has to go to the hostel life. Providing single occupancy to the students helps them to establish & get accustomed to the new life that they are getting into. From social to introverts, everyone get the space they deserve.
- Mess: Food quality, quantity & the variety helps students to get away from the monotonous and mundane food menu that usually is pictured when we think of the mess food. 9/10 for the food quality.
- Space & Surroundings: The place is peaceful and away from the busy life while providing the exposure to the nearby industries.
Dislikes
- Quality of education: It is not adequate as per today's requirement.
- Lack of placement cell: Fake news & promotions like placement and average CTC. They don't have any Placement & Talent Cell.
- No Social life: University lacks in every aspect to make a social appearance. There's no University Fest or any sort of celebration in the university. If you are fascinated by fest & co-curricular activities, then this university is a must skip!
Course Curriculum Overview
Course provided the variety of structure: It followed the market trend and stayed with the current generation. Courses should be structured in best based manner. Course designers should include what's going to be helpful for students in future, rather than focusing on topics that's being in use for past 4-5 years.
Fees and Financial Aid
The Fees was about 1 Lakhs and 20 thousand for the first year. From second year onwards, it was a bit less, i.e. around 1 Lakh per year. This makes up for the fact that fees was broken down semester-wise. Tuition Fees: 1,20,00 (1st year) 1,00,00 (2nd to 4th year) Security Deposit: 10,000 For other categories, like Mgmt, SC/ST, OBC Fees were different.
Campus Life
There's no social aspect in the university. Me and 3 of my friends started a small band, got our own drum kits, guitar & keyboards. Requested university to help us with a place for practice as it would be nuisance to the rest if we did it inside hostel. We were denied. We also tried conducting Tech Fest and RafTech, created proposal for the same, tried to propose for the funds. We weren't supported at all. University only focuses on one part, i.e. Law Department as the wife of the founder, is a retired Judge. It's great for persuing LAW.
Hostel Facilities
It's really difficult to find some place which provides everything that's necessary to lead a simple and fun life. Good & hyginic envorinment, basic ammenities, good internet, AC fitted single occupancy rooms & great mess food.
Admission
Me and one of my friend who scored 73% in 12th, wanted to join the same college. We didn't apply for JEE exams, neither did we go for any other exam. We weren't much focused on big names. We just wanted to get a college together which would let us get the degree, better hostel life & would let us play football as we were playing with all our heart back then. We visited educatus expo after complition of our schooling. We shortlisted 2 colleges, KCC & Raffles. KCC was close to our place so it wouldn't require hostle but we wanted to get a bit freedom as well. Hence decided to visit Raffles Univeristy. The Admission counsel told us that it's founder is the one who worked with Emaar Group. Sold us by showing hostel, good food & good area. All those 3 things which doesn't require much time to acknowledge. Friend joined for Civil & I joined for CSE. 2nd year, our department said Civil Department has been closed and this made mass turnover of students. Yet, I continued as I thought, I'll have to study on my own, be it in this university or the other one. 90% Students went to JECRC University, Jaipur as they made it their promotion tactic and sent local referrals.
Faculty
Several Faculties like, Nitin Sir, Deepak Sir & Rajpal Sir were one of the most engaging & promising mentors. Among these no one is in the university anymore. The Exams conducted aren't monitored properly, due to which the results are always far from what the actual scenario would be. some students who have self-decipline, are tested to the level where they can enjoy a bit of challenge & test their knowledge.
Night Life
Tuckshop is the only outlet for the students of Raffles to get anything that's required or necessary or any other thing. The nightlife is just around this place or by the ground. People love hanging out around the parks. Rest of the things are very limited as the curfew time is 10:00 PM for boys & 9:30PM for girls.
