- Strictness regarding attire. Students were supposed to wear only the uniform and no casual wear.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course being BBA (core), the curriculum was structured and organised in a manner of ascending knowledge. We started with basics, simple topics such as Business Economics, Principles of Management , to build the foundation, then were introduced to more relevant topics such as Taxation and Law, Organisational Behaviour. The syllabus was legible, easy to grasp and well thoughout. The 5th and 6th semester, which is the third and last year of the degree required us students to make internship report and a research project respenctively. This was a major opportunity for us fresher students to put our theoretical knowledge at test in the real world. The timing and frequency of exams conducted were well planned. Each semester, although is supposed to be 6 months long, our syllabus was finished by the end of the 4th month each semester which provided the students with ample time and prepation for the main semester exams.
Internships Opportunities
I interned at 2 companies- Pushp Foods and CSIL, both stipend based. The curriculum had project reports as a part of the structure and all students were required to join well known companies. A research project was designed by students to summarise their experience and a viva was conducted to understand if the student learned something through this internship.
Placement Experience
The placement of CIMS is one of the best in Lucknow city. The median package of CIMS is Rs 9 LPA, which is a lot considering that the students are mostly freshers and just have a UG degree. Students are eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. Many popular companies such as Swiggy, HCL, Aegis, HDFC and IDBI banks visited and 75% of the students were placed. I had planned to skip placements while many of my friends as classmates did sit for interviews and received offers. I want to pursur MBA and appeared for CAT this year. I'm gonna put my degree to good use and utilise the learning in the admission process of my MBA degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure was designed semester wise. Each semester the total fees was paid of Rs. 40000. I personally joined the college through Lucknow University entrance exam. The college is affiliated by Lucknow University, therefore every rule and regulation was administered by the Lucknow University itself. The college didn't request any additonal charges, simply the semester fees, which was equal to all students (no reservation).
Campus Life
My overall experience with the campus life was satisfactory. I made a number of friends and a lot more contacts. I was part of the Organiser Club in my first year and it was a blast. I was part of the committee who was responsible for helping nad organising events such as fests, freshers, sports days, marathons, DJ nights, farewells. September through December were the months when such events took place. The library was stocked with books regarding each course offered at the college. The students were given Library Cards at the time of admission which made lending the books easier and organised. The classrooms were air conditioned and were provided with smart boards/white boards/projectors. The campus had computer labs which was a mandate for BCA students. The number of sports events such as- Cricket League, Football Matches, Weight-lifting competition and arm wrestling, were held throughout the year which was immersive for everyone.
Admission
I applied to every college on the Lucknow University affiliated college list but chose CIMS due to the following reasons: > Networking: I had many acquantances who were currently studying or have just passed out with placements from CIMS. This helped me realise the actuality of the college. >Location: As mentioned, the college campus is located smack dab in the middle of the city. This was a major element in my decision making as I travelled by myself and need to choose a place not far yet not so close to my own home. >Student Body: As I made a visit at the college, I got to see the type of students who were studying at the college, I found them to be a great crowd and this played an essential role in the decision. The admission process was as simple as it gets. I was accompanied with my father and we visited the college campus and asked for a tour. When we were done with it, I had made the decision to enroll there. We filled the form there and then only and made a seat confirmation amount of Rs 3500, which was later deduced from my 1st Semester fee. The eligibilty was to have passed the 12th with a minumum percentage of 60%. The student can shortlist the college for the LUET Portal before the entrance exam which helps in shortlisting the students.
Faculty
The faculty was simply good. The college being affiliated to Lucknow University, was provided with Guest Lecturers who specialised in the topic they were supposed to teach. We had 1 HOD who was responsible for attendance and our course work. Him being the only admin, was easier for us as students to communicate to and made understanding better with the faculty. My personal favourite faculty was Dr Dolly Roy. She was a permanent faculty at the college who specialised in Accounting. She was a major helping hand throughout my college years as she provided good advice and a feeling of belongingness within her students. The college held internal exams to generate internal marks as the main exams were conducted by the Lucknow University. These exams were designed in the exact pattern as the main semester exams and made the legibility easy for all students. The marking scheme was exactly similar to the LU pattern. Almost every student cleared these exams.
Interview Experience
I had a one on one session with the founder of the college (retd.) IFS D.R Bansal. He asked about my Academics, my ambitions and what career I chose for my future. He is an amazing dean and all students cherished him.
Night Life
The college provided a lively gym, a stocked and well kept cafeteria and a cozy library which were all open to students at all times since the majority stayed in the in-campus hostels. I was a day-scholar, therefore have little information about hostel life and the night shenanigans of the campus. But as far I know, the students were comfortable and satisfied.
