What Students Say
Likes
- The overall environment of the college was very motivating. There were proper rules but not boundations, several facilities like social clubs, technical clubs, teams of several activities were there for students to explore their interests.
- The teachers were very very helpful, If you'd ask them for help or guidance they were very eager to, even after office hours, they also took extra classes if the students needed.
- The college gave students independence to work on their own too, like not enforce attendance too much. Like, if you are working on something and keeping your mentors in loop, they will give you the necessary leaves, and help you jn any was possible.
Dislikes
- The sports area could use some work, and there should be proper gym, and overall infrastructure of the college can use renovations.
- Some students are allowed to take vehicles inside, and some can't. We had to walk the whole way to our class ta the back of the college. There are 2 gates, but the middle one close to our class was closed permanently which wasted out time and energy.
- Canteen food and hostel infrastructure need to be made better.
Course Curriculum Overview
My decision to choose this course was the environment of the college and the general increasing demand of computer science engineers. If studied properly, the course will prepare you for the real world. The course itself could use a bit of new topics too, it was outdated to some extent. Exams were on point, enough to keep us involved and the difficulty was also what was needed.
Internships Opportunities
College had collaborated with different companies throughout the sessions to provide students with training and internship opportunities. Students could opt for these or they could pursue something of their own too. But this college provided thing was forced onto the students deliberately. These didn't provide any stipend as they were basically training.
Placement Experience
The campus placements are up to the mark. Students become eligible for placements from 6th semesters onwards. Even with recession going on during my time, the placement cell somehow managed to get good recruiters in the college and get a lot of students good offers. More than 160 companies visited to give more than 2000 offers. Highest package was from my class only which was 52 LPA and average was 6.8 LPA. Microsoft offered the highest placement and the profile was software developer. Almost 75 percent students got placed. I have completed my degree and I'm not starting my own thing. Not pursuing this sector anymore.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fees I paid was 71000 per year, 38500, and 32500 fir odd and even semesters. The caution money was 7500. All other fees were included in semester fee itself. My friend who has opted for TFWS only had to pay around 20000 for the whole year. There was only exam registration fee as extra, which goes to the university i.e. RTU. EWS category students also had some concession in the fee.
Campus Life
Annual fest of 3 days is conducted in April month. First day is activities, second is dj night, and third is star night. This is the only fest by the way and which too is not very good. They collect fest fee from students only, where as it is included in the overall fee in most colleges. I don't even go in the fest, but they still take fee from me. This is the only fest. Library is mostly outdated books if we take books other than academics, otherwise satisfactory. All classes have smart class, few classes at the front of the college has step up classrooms for better visibilities for students. Sports activities weren't much available as we couldn't get football or any equipment easily. I never saw a college sports equipment, all were personal. There are 4 student run social clubs centering attention on 4 different social issues. There are also other clubs like for dance, modelling, automobiles, and robotics etc.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel was low quality. The rooms, the washroom, and the food. It was barely satisfactory, I opted for rooms outside the College in during the 1st sem itself. You can then find several good places at better rent outside the College. Hostel were affordable but still wasn't satisfactory. I have rented places in Sitapura, Vatika, Pratap nagar, jagatpura, and Haldighati marg. College hostel was below the mark but rented accomodations were good
Admission
I applied to all the colleges in jaipur, rajasthan, in this area offering this field, i.e. JECRC, PIET, SKIT etc, and got confirmed admission, but I chose this over others because this college offered what I was expecting from a college. Others were simply like schools which controlled students and just manufactured skilled labours. JECRC offered facilities to explore my interests and freedom to follow my own way. I wasn't able to get into NIT Jaipur, and MBM probably because I wasn't prepared enough to clear their eligibility criteria. Overall admission experience was seamless, you just give the exam, register for admission and visit the college, deposit fees, and get in. The accepted exams are REAP, and the score in JEE Mains. But you can also apply directly. The eligibility criteria is 12th pass.
Faculty
There are 1.5 teachers per 100 students. Faculty to students relationship is as it should be, friendly but not undisciplined. Faculties asmre always ready to help, and very approachable. Mr. Piyush Gautam sir, also our TPO, was very helpful throughout in every aspect of college life. And Mr. Rizwan khan sir was very friendly and helpful too. And Mrs. Shikha Shrivastava mam was there whenever we needed any kind of help or advice.
Interview Experience
There was no GD or written test, just a personal interview with parents, which had basic introductory questions, to suggest which course might be better for me. The interview process was seamless and I didn't face may difficulties. They were helpful and eager to guide me according to my interest and needs.
Night Life
There was no gym, cafeteria food was mediocre, edible not anything special, but overpriced for what was offered. Library wasn't very good either for anything other than academics. Gate closing time for girls was way too early as compared to boys. Famour hangout spots inside the college is Round Table, cafeteria, and outside the College was several cafes just outside. The locality is actually safer than other areas of the city, considering there's a checkpost at night on the college main road, and there's also the area police station at 500 meter distance.
Other Applied Colleges
Poornima Institute of Engineering and Technology - [PIET] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Engineering)
I didn't opt because they were very controlling, it was like a school, and wasn't going to teach me things that college teaches.
