Course Curriculum Overview
The mobile phone industry was beginning it's boom at that time, this was the main reason I opted for the course. However, the course was 10 years behind the then current technology and market requirement. That caused a huge issue in obtaining employment. The course should have been more relevant and updated to the current times. The exam structure was alright with a good focus on Vivas and Practicals.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly fres: Tuition fee = ?6,000, Development/caution fee = ?1,000, Other fees = ?550, College Lab fee = ?919, MSBTE exam fee = ?1,200, MSBTE enrollment fee = ?210, Tuition fee = ?63,637 (Open Catagory), No Scholarship and no special quota. So the total fees for the 4 year course were,?284748
Campus Life
There were no college fests arranged by the college. We did not have a cohesive students body and there were always conflicts between various departments. There was a large availability for sports on the campus. Badminton, ping-pong, 8 ball pool (where we learned Applied mechanics) were great. Technologically the classrooms were backward with the standard benches and green board. No projector or smart boards. Being a Polytechnic, as students, we had very little time for any other activities.
Admission
This college was chosen for me by my father as is the case with many Indian students at that time. I had applied for the Government Polytechnic Ahmednagar, however, the cutoff was 69% and I just couldn't make it. Another reason for selecting this college was it's presence in my native village of Ahmednagar. Being a Polytechnic, the admition process was very straightforward. Post application, there was a waiting period of 2 weeks and I received a letter of intent for admission pending payment of fees. My marks in 10th/SSC were sufficient for gaining the admission.
Faculty
The faculty was a mixed batch... As mentioned earlier, Diwane Sir was a fantastic teacher. Then their was Nirmale Sir for Applied Mathematics, typically average teaching practice in the college, however, his personal coaching was fantastic. Teachers for Engineering Drawing were on hand and fantastic, the Lab and Workshop assistants were very helpful and cautious. However, the teachers Sirole Sir for Communication Techniques and Chemistry was the worst. Half the time he would be intoxicated. There were a total of 4 exams every year 3 quarterly exams and the final year exam. Exams were curated by the board so we're always on the difficult side.
Night Life
The college being in the middle of Vilas Ghat, the only hangout place was the Highway Dhaba. The college has a library and canteen to hangout at. However, 90% of the times we were there studying or brainstorming about studies. Being a 2 tier village, there was absolutely no night life. And the safety of being was average.
