What Students Say
Likes
- I think the kind of diversity that this University provides is quite commendable. As from the very first semester we had our foundation programmes, wherein students from all across the courses studied and participated in discussions.
- Secondly, our college has a great policy which prioritizes the smooth transition of first year students from scholl to college. In this, all the students are grouped into different social circles and each circle has 2 seniors which mentors them.
- I also like the fact that the college truly support interdisciplinary educational approach, as we are given fare number of electives which can be taken as free electives. These credits can be utilised to enroll diverse courses which interests you.
Dislikes
- Though I am grateful for the scholarship, but the fees hike is quite concerning
Course Curriculum Overview
Some of the courses are mandatory, which you have to opt for your programme, whereas some are electives that you can enroll by your choice. Initially, I had one core subject that was data science, I used to think that time, this is worthless and waste of time, but now I have realised the importance of data analytics iny carrer domain, hence this has driven my mindset towards learning more about this subject through different channels to upscale my career.
Placement Experience
I am not well aware of the exact information about the placements. We have separate department for this which is center of development, I had checked their portal months back, I think that have decent amount of opportunities, I had seen few of the companies names from the the previous year placement report, some of them include infosys, torrent power, Oswal (finances), amazon, flipkart, wipro, etc
Fees and Financial Aid
So the initial fees amount was around 2,10,000 for the first semester, making it 4,20,000 for the yearly fees payment I am currently in the second year, there has been around 10% increase in the tution fess along with the other course fees remaining the same (10,000/semester). So, the total amount goes upto 4,60,000 for the year. This is specially for the BBA Hons and BA Hons batches. Whereas, for the btech batch students the scenario is different, there annual fees goes up to approximately 2.5 to 3 lakhs. The college also provide merit based and need based scholarship, which can be upto 25-50% fess waiver for the students who are eligible for it
Campus Life
The infrastructure is well developed, we have 2 libraries and two huge reading rooms across the campus. Our central library is open for 24*7. We even have seperate individual cubicals to study, this even helps to concentrate better without any disturbance. We have well constructed university center which has numerous facilities like, gym, multipurpose hall, badminton and basketball court, huge cafeteria, at the top floor we even have few rooms designated for group discussions The campus life is quite vibrant and lively. We have continues clubs events. We usually have our lecture till first half on Wednesday, the rest is reserved for clubs events. This enables good social connections
Admission
I was completely blank in my 12th grade, i was not sure whether I would enroll for this University. In the starting of my 12, i took the call to start the preparation for the clat exam which is a gateway to be enrolled in national universities. I was so naive to think that just four months preparation will land me to get into gnlu which is the among the best law colleges across the nation. I believe in destiny, I am very grateful for where I am right now, I can sense how different I am right now than I used to be 2 years back. I truly know and believe, I will be the different person after my graduation. This college has numerous amount of opportunities for growth.
Faculty
I must acknowledge that my college has faculties who have deep knowledge in their areas. I have even observed some of them who have done their phd from prestigious universities like university of Chicago, IITs, etc. The exam structure is not common to all courses, it is designed specifically for each course in according to the course outline. For example some courses which are more research and analytical based have more assignments than written exam. Even the percentage for grade component is different for different cources. So for grading component we have mainly five components:class participation, quizzes, mid sem,end sem and assignments. Also, my perspective on observing faculty members have changed. Earlier I used to think more the experience means better the teaching methodology, this Outlook was completely changed in my past semester, as I was doing the same course with my friend, but we were in different sections, I had one faculty who was highly experienced and had even experience of working in IIM. Whereas my other friend had faculty who was very young, maybe just completed his PhD, his teaching pattern was quite interactive and practical unlike my section's faculty.
Night Life
We have a hostel which is not owned by our university but we have our MOA with them, also it is quite near our university. Our university is centrally located of the city Ahmedabad. Which is quite convenient to visit many places, enjoy food stalls, rides, etc
