What Students Say
Likes
- Greenery all over the campus creates a sense of freshness
- Hostel infrastructure is well worth the fees being paid.
- In sports, basketball and volleyball courts are well maintained.
Dislikes
- Since the campus is newer than others, you won't be able to distinguish whether your college is in a construction site or in the campus.
- No wifi availability, you'll be struggling with a good internet coverage area in here.
- Low amount of eateries and no big franchises within the Zomato or Swiggy's range (KFC, Burger King) etc.
Course Curriculum Overview
Due to the trending placement:course ratio, i opted my course for specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The curriculum do prepares the students for real world applications, infact training drives are being held from this year to help students score in placements and work on aptitude. Improvements in the course curriculum can be made, like more interactive classes and make sure everyone is getting what the faculty is trying to say. Exams are quiet frequent like you'll be held with tests in before the CLA and at last you'll have the end sems.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly fee strucutre: First year [AIML]- Rs 2,40,000 (tution fees) + Rs 10,000 (security) Note: security fees is to be paid in first year only, and won't be repeated for the upcoming years. Second and upcoming years: Rs 2,40,000 [CSE CORE]- Rs 2,25,000 (tution fees) + Rs 10,000 (security) Scholarships or financial aids: 1) SRMJEEE:- applicants can apply for their personal competitive exam for all those applying and secure a good rank to end up having a scholarship. 2) 10+2 score:- applicants can submit their 10+2 score and attain a scholarship according to their achieved percentage.
Campus Life
My overall experience of the campus by far has been neutral. Almost zero cultural events has created a negative mindset in not just me, but in most of the students itself. Annually there's a technical event that takes place like this year it was named TECH SPECTRUM-24 held in october. Accessibility and range of the books and journals within the library is pretty good and wide. Facilities within the class are decent and enough , overall sports infrastructure is good but the ground is still under construction so half of it is still not usable.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is pretty much well equipped with every essential need of the student, and regular cleanliness is maintained. Meal quality and menu is decent , for a north indian it will be difficult to adjust within the starting, but you'll after sometime. Registration for hostel involves filling a form handed over to you when you'll visit the same, and clearance of payments. Hostel being 65,000 INR is pretty much affordable for the quality of rooms you are getting. Totally worth it!
Admission
I applied for JIIT-Noida, SNU Noida but due to non preferrable branches i was getting i opted out and thought of giving SRMJEEE. No i didn't got rejected from the above mentioned colleges, just because i was not getting the desired branch , i left. Admission procedure of my college includes, applying either directly with management quota and reserve a seat or take part in SRMJEEE ,secure a rank, get a scholarship and reserve your seat. You'll be asked to choose the college and branch, then the internal procedure of submitting the documents and paying fees will continue.
Faculty
Here a faculty is assigned with minimum of two classes, having a max of 60 students. Therefore, on an average ratio of 1:120 (teacher:students) is followed. Faculty is responsive to the students when available. SRMIST Trichy holds three exams in total within a semester, CLA-1, CLA-2 and end sems. (Continuous Learning Assessment). Course curriculum is pretty much relevant to what comes in the exam. Majority of the students surpasses the exam and the difficulty of the exams ranges between Easy-Moderate( personal opinion). Difficulty of the exams is different for every student having their own level of understanding.
Night Life
Favourite hangout spots, late night activities nothing like these are allowed in this campus. You need to be in your hostel within 8 pm or something, no late night activities allowed. Gym is very well equipped within the hostel including a vending machine too. Two cafeterias are present in the whole campus, one in the entrance and the other in the middle of it. Outside the university the nearest hangout place will be around 25-30kms which you'll be covering through bus(no other commute vehicle available if you're a hosteller, ask your day scholar friend ).
