What Students Say
Likes
- Accesibility. The college is just near the National Highway. This makes it very easy for students from distant places to access the college.
- Programmes. The college students directly raises fund themselves and conduct the programmes. So there are frequent programmes and cultural fests.
- Experienced faculty. The faculty of my department is well experienced in their respective fields and are very friendly. However some of them are not.
Dislikes
- Number of students in my class. As this is not a widely popular course, the number of students in my class is just 8. From being in a classroom full of students to being in one with just 8 was really hard for me personally.
- Number of classes. The number of classes we get are very low due to the programmes and strikes that are held in the college. As a result we, the students are forced to rush things like studying, submitting assignments and completing labs.
- Classroom. The classrooms are not of the top notch. As the students are low, the classroom is empty most of the times, which leads to dust. My classroom is full of dust most of the time.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course offers various job opportunities. This has a wide scope in outside countries. This made me chose this course. This course is mainly applied science. We have to apply the science we study. We do it in the laboratory. Giving notes instead of pdf might be helpful for some of the students. The exams are well timed. But some subject are hard to crack.
Internships Opportunities
No internships are provided. The college does not provide internships to students. However there is a project at the end of 2nd Year. As i have just begun 2ns Year, I do not have any info on it. Thank you!
Fees and Financial Aid
The semester fees for Bsc Biotechnology is 18000 (36000/year). At the time of admission i was asked to pay 24000. This included the first semester fees, Uniform and caution fees of 2000. The exam fee for every sem varies but typically is between 700-900. The bus fees is 2700 from my home; which is 30 km from the college. My batchmates are of the same category as me so they also share the same fee structure.
Campus Life
There is Ftesher's day, held for welcoming the fresher's and showcasing talents. This is the first program held after the year starts. Then comes Onam celebration. Then comes the college election. Then comes Christmas and that marks the end of it. Th laboratory of out college is well advanced compared to other colleges. All the study materials and books are available in the college public library, which makes it easy to reffer the textbooks before exam for revision. The major college sport is Football. Every Year the college football team participates in the university tournament.
Admission
I was accepted into National college Thiruvananthapuram in my first allotment. It was hard for me to travel that much distance daily. In the second allotment, i got alloted into AJ college of Science and Texhnology. So i went on with it. I removed National College from my preferred college list after the first allotment. This is why i got alloted into AJ college.
Faculty
Most of the faculty is is friendly and approchable. This might sound a bit exaggerated but none of the faculty seem to be umfriendly. They are also well experienced in their fields so their teachings can be understood if you listen to thier classes. It seems wrong to classify the teacher's as the ones i like and ones i don't. There are 2 semester exams in one year. Model exams are held for giving familiarity of the exam. A lab exam is held yearly. Exams are relatively easy to crack. However 2 of my classmates failed to pass. The course curriculum is very relevant to the exam.
Night Life
Cafeteria is the main hanging spot of students. The food os fairly good. There is an Ice Bay shop at the front of the college which is also a main hangout spot for students. The area is not safe to roam around at night.
Other Applied Colleges
National College Of Arts And Science | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biotechnology)
The distance. It would’ve been difficult to travel every day.
