Course Curriculum Overview
The course of Physiotherapy is a very developing course with lots of career opportunities in the future since the field does not ahev any side-effects and is very helpful in the medical field the field of physiotherapy has its own unique role in treating patients with much care and advancements. The curriculum from the college was really good as we were given the patients exposure from the 2nd yr itself so we had a good idea about how the cases are going to be, how to handle a patient, how to talk with them, how to use the modalities, how to take the assessment of different types of cases like ortho, neuro, cardio, ICU cases as well as pediatric cases ,how the things are going to be in the future.. etc. The area that needs some improvement is the waybbs people treat other staffs the main staffs are really good but the students the residents do not treat the other staff nicely and make them feel inferior so that problem needs to be looked after as soon as possible and changes should be made in it.. The areas that needs improvement is the cardio practicals as there are not much taken so the students do not have a very good idea about the ICU management they just follow their seniors and follow the same protocol so that needs to be addressed also the obg teaching is not much done so that is also an area to be looked after. The internal exams are taken every 3 months plus the vivas and practicals are also taken so that the students get a good idea about the final exams that are conducted by the university once in a year.
Internships Opportunities
As the college has its own hospital the students were offered internship in the same hospital as the hospital has good patient flow with bed capacity more than 1000. We were attending different conferences in the campus and outside the cities as well where the student use to present their projects and researchers and articles.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees per year for the college is 67,000 now but was 57,000 when I used to study there plus the hostel and mess charges are different that both comes in a package of 1,00,000 plus some additional charges for rooms with attached bathrooms. Also there are different types of fees taken within the year for different activities done in the college but paying the money is worth it as the events are taken in that manner The college teaching is really good with posts fo patient flow in the hospital the campus is beautiful and has a very good library available for students 24×6 days of week. There are also scholarship program availed by the college you just need to search for the programmes and go ask the college clerk or some administrative person for the same as they do not tell you anything about the programmes.
Campus Life
There are 2 events that involves all the different courses as well and the whole college is celebrating it together like family and that is REGALE AND CARNIVAL. REGALE involves different competitions taken between different courses as for mbbs versus physiotherapy or dental versus pharmacy etc. the competition is in sports as well as cultural with dance , drama, skit, mime, fashion show , singing, ets taken as well as rangoli competition, face painting, drawing and other competitions are included in cultural and pn the other hand the sports competition includes indoor and outdoor sports like carrom , chess , table tennis , badminton, volleyball, throwball, cricket, kho-kho, running , etc. The teaching is theoretical as well as practical where we get good practices in the practical with cadavers and really good laboratories. Plus there are projectors for different teaching methods .
Hostel Facilities
Each room in the hostel has 2 to 3 students in a room, with their own bed ,and a study table and a chair , with a cupboard with doors for keeping your stuff the cupboard also has a locking facility which is really needed in hostels. Also the hostel has camera installed in the corridors and the main entrance. There were shared washrooms in the hostel and hot water was provides in the morning for 2 hours. The mess food was a treat for the non-vegetarians but was not good for the vegerterins as the food taste was average. On Sundays we were given icecream with biryani but for vegetarian menu it was dal rice or soya biryani which tasted awful. The registration process was done in the administration office itself and rooms were alloted as per your requirement and the availability of the rooms there were 5 hostels in total one for foreign exchange students and others for the mbbs, bpt, dental pharmacy and nursing students each hostel is of 2 to 3 floors . There are also rooms or pgs available outside the campus in laxman layout the whole area is filled with students there and is really safe to live with messes available for food.
Admission
The reason that made me chose navodaya over other colleges is the college has a good reputation about studies as well as extracurricular activities also the college has its own attached hospital with abundant patient flow throughout the year the hospital has a bed capacity over 1000 with different special wards and also a research centre. Previously I was looking for dyp college in pune but due to its high fees I did not go with that college and decided to do my bachelor's in Navodaya College of Physiotherapy, Raichur, Karnataka. The admission procedure of Navodaya is simple you need to qualify neet and need to have an average of 50% in pcb (physics, chemistry and biology) in the boards.
Faculty
The faculty is very helpful and friendly, whenever we had a problem the faculty was there to solve it at any hours be it an academic problem or another ones. The principal is the most supportive person there and he supports sports and extracurricular activities with studies so he's a good to person for all the problems and very supportive. There are internal exams taken every 3 months and the main university exam comes every year.
Night Life
The college also offered sports grounds and gym facilities for the students the sports can be played by all buying your own equipments and the gym has a monthly fees of 500/- rs which should be paid in the college , the college also offers a trainer in the gym the gym has all the equipments plus an area for yoga sessions as well. The night life of Navodaya is quiet amazing as the campus is really beautiful at night with plenty of lights neat the garden in the campus and benches to sit with the food court which has amazing Chinese food also offers different pasteris and chats as well also South Indian dishes. I love to hangout at the food court where we had our favourite bench reserved where me and my friends group used to chat and do fun stuff for hours and have chat and Chinese food. The hostels had an in timing of 9:30 or 10:00 sometimes and no students were allowed after that timing , also there was a rule of showing id card and then entering the clg and hostel.
