Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose the course as backup for my CA as the subjects of CA and BCom are quit similar but BCom is much easier as there are no much complication. The improvement in teaching method is that that it must be practical. Taking students on industrial visits, asking them to make projects based that will be more helpful.

Internships Opportunities

3

BHEML has a tie up with our college. Recently that organised a competition of public speaking to improve the speaking ability of the students in our college. Every participants were given the certificate and the winners were given cash prize. Every year, commerce fare is conducted to ensure that students are aware of the market and business and economics, and learn how to work as a team.

Fees and Financial Aid

I joined st Joseph’s first grade college under Mysore university. I opted for BCom. The registration was rs.100 and the first year the fee was rs.57000(excluding the deposit of 3000 which is compulsory) but there is a deduction if you have scored more than 90% in 12th. In 2nd year I paid 46000. Our college gives us an opportunity to pay fee in 2 installments. A part from this exam fee has to be paid dependingly. I'm not much aware of the all the scholarship but our college provide scholarships for minority communities is what I have heared. This college offers courses in BCom, BBA, BCA, BSC. The fee of each course differs from other

Campus Life

4

The campus is average. The degree college campus is attached to school campus, so the school campus is really huge. So any competitions, any sports are conducted in the school campus, which is a plus point, but the college campus is a little too small but that is manageable, but the canteen needs improvement. The library of the college is really good. It has some really nice collections of books and it is quite peaceful. You have access to internet and laptops in the library. Nowhere in the campus, except for canteen you're supposed to use your phone. College feats are conducted once in a year and is named as Jo-fest. Like every other college, our college also conduct, ethnic day, freshers day, graduation day, and Kannada Rajyotsava celebrated in a very grand manner. we have student council association and the members of this association are elected by the students.

Admission

I thought of St.Joseph University(SJU) in Bangalore, St.Aloysius College in Mangalore and Christ University in Bangalore. At Christ I had passed 2 levels, I had to attend the interview but due to personal issue I couldn't. SJU I dropped because I couldn't get the cut off marks. St Aloysius I didn't go because I got bad reviews about the students there. Admission process at our college is simple. You have to have minimum 45% in your 12th examination in commerce for BCom course. After 12th get the application form by paying rs.100 (available offline only). Fill the form and then the principal will interview and you'll get an opportunity to ask questions regarding the course, college etc and after principal's approval,if you are interested in joining the the college, you can proceed with the fee payment process. You can pay the fee online or off-line after taking the DD.

Faculty

3

Few faculties are really very good but as every college, there are 2 or 3 faculties are arrogant. I like Mrs. Nayana and Miss. Suchi, there teaching approach is nice and are friendly with us. There will 2 internal for 30 marks each and 2 assignments for 10 each in every semester as of now (under NEP). The semester exam is written for 60 marks and 40 marks is given from internals (again under NEP, this might change next year). Bcom exams are easy, not much to worry about. The college pass percentage is good.

Night Life

1

The college does not provide any hostel facility, so anybody who are not from Mysore have to opt for PG or have to rent a house, so I am not sure about the night life in the college. as the college is in the city. There are many places where students can visit while they're free near the college. There are many restaurants. Ki-ki park is very nice. There is BM habitat mall and DRC for movies.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester. Our college has a dedicated placement department that really guides and supports us through the whole process. Big companies like Deloitte and KPMG visit the campus every year, and since I’m doing B.Com + ACCA, there are plenty of great opportunities in finance and accounting. Last year, around 8 students from the B.Com batch got placed in finance roles. The average package was about ?6 LPA. The best part is that placements keep getting better every year, and the college has maintained a 100% placement record. They’ve even tied up with foreign companies, which opens up more global opportunities for us. After completing my degree, I plan to build a strong career in finance—hopefully starting with a reputed company like Deloitte or KPMG—and later explore opportunities abroad.

Placement Experience:

The college offers placement through the COC (Career Opportunities) cell. Students become eligible for placements by the 5th Semester. The companies which come to hire include the Big 4s, (KPMG, Delloite, EY and BCG), Fedral Bank,TCS, etc. Almost 70% of students opt for higher eduaction so the less number of students get placed at the UG level at least. I am personally figuring out which path to choose but I have placement in mind at the end of the degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My specific aspect of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the course is the ACCA along with Bcom. Most importantly the 9 paper exemptions provided that gives flexibility in the context of studying. The curriculum is well corporate and real world oriented. They prepare us on how to face the real corporate world through their curriculum by conducting different seminars and workshops.
