A honest review on SHCP & pharmD life

I chose this course, as it is quite novel course here in India,that can bring advancements in the Indian healthcare system, this course provides a Doctorate, it is a prime course that is capable of saving life's of many patients by limiting the Adverse drug reactions, drug interactions occurrences.The student's practical exposure in the hospital must be made still more detailed. Internal exams will be conducted in every 3months. And after 3 internals exams a Final exam would be conducted.

Internships and provided by the SVIMS hospital but the stipend will not be awarded to the students.The role of pharmD interns in the hospital would be case collection ,prescription analysis, history taking, Adverse Reactions reporting. Specific projects should be done by the students in their allotted departments under the guidance of doctors.

The placements are good and satisfactory.And are mainly offered are by the Apollo pharmacy,omega factory,etc.From 7/8th semester students are eligible. The highest package as far as I know is the 2.4 LPA. More than 80% of the students will get placed for sure irrespective of the average package. My plan after completion of course is to pursue MBA in hospital management.

The yearly fee structure includes general tuition fee of 62,800/- ,lab and library fees of 15,000/- ,hospital fees(that must be paid in order to attend for the purpose of hospital postings) of 15,000/- . So, in total for merit candidate who secured a government seat of pharmD in this college the yearly fees would be 92,800.And only in the first year of college an admission fees of 5,000 should be paid.The tuition fees for the candidates who secured the pharmD seat via management quota in this college would be around 1,60,000-1,80,000 depending on the individual candidates intermediate marks.And the Management students should pay their tuition fees along with the lab and library fees,hospital fees annually. The fees can be paid within 2-3 terms as negotiated with the management.The government of AP provides a educational financial support in the form of fees reimbursement for the merit students with some reservations, for such candidates the whole tuition fee of 62,800/- will be reimbursed by the GOVT of AP. The other students who arent eligible for bagging the fees reimbursement they should pay on their own. Many other scholarships like TATA TRUST scholarships,SBI Asha scholarship etc can be applied by all the students irrespective of their seat type (govt/management) whenever the scholarships commences, they can request for fee receipt,Bonafide certificate from the management if required for applying those scholarships. And students who belong to SC/ST are eligible for a financial aid I.e provided by the central govt. The fee doesn't increase year by year , it will be constant by your agreed fee structure till your graduation. The hostel fee would be 60,000/- yearly.

The overall campus life is good. yet well ventilated surrounding with greenery.The library is well equipped with great book,journal collections.Skanda and arambh are the fests that are conducted during January and august usually. The classrooms are well advanced with projector and screens, boards, spot lights also under surveillance. Annually sports week will be conducted, also exposes students to inter college sports meets.

The hostel is well facilitated with AC,water geysers.Also well ventilated with windows and balconies for fresh air,there is also a garden in front of the college that provides refreshment for the students. The hostel is under complete surveillance in the corridors,mess,gardens and stairs.Also consists of sickroom.

I chose this college over the others as it was the only autonomous college during my year of admission that has NBA grading along with NAAC A+ ranking. This college has an upper hand as it has collaborations with one of the prestigious Hospital in Andhra Pradesh I.e SVIMS AND PADMAVATHI hospitals for providing practical exposure to pharmD students.I got admission through my merit ranking in EAMCET exam, and couldn't make it to other colleges as they were under qualified than this college for my ranking.

It has great faculty,who are capable and guides students with immense knowledge and responsibility.The faculty are always open for interactions and are approachable. Dr.lavanya mam, and Dr.sunil sir are my favourite faculty they are very knowledgeable and guides us effectively.They consider and deal with students issues. I didn't like Mr.Pradeep sir as he is kind of ignorant when it comes to solving the doubts of students. Yearly 3 internal exams will be conducted and any 2 best marks of the 3 exams will be taken as an average, the exams level ranges in between moderate to difficult depending on the subject. 3-4 students each year in my class fails to clear some particular subjects, the course curriculum is optimal and quite, and very convenient to the students, all they need to do is to attend lectures and learn from them keenly. The classrooms are well equipped with projectors and screens making it easier for presentions.

Students can engage in open gym for exercising purposes, play games like badminton, and cricket in the cricket nets I.e specially built, after college timings in the grounds. Can also spend time in canteen. And hostel students aren't allowed to roam in the campus after 6 in the evening.
