What Students Say
Likes
- Infrastructure on the whole of college is decent and student friendly. They have big classrooms and lush green environment which enhances the positivity of the campus. Library along with other campus amenities are up to the mark.
- Master's in economics becomes an important and relevant course owing to the current developing scenario. One needs to have information and knowledge about how economy work and how actually a nation develops.
- Faculty of the college was really cooperative and helpful. They supported students throughout the course duration. Provided all around guidance and support and helped students navigate through various course options available.
Dislikes
- Although the course duration is of 2 years still the amount of activities and practical solutions required for the subject depth was absent. This needs to be corrected so that mere bookish knowledge is not gathered.
- Washrooms of the college weren't of good quality. Despite rigorous complaints nobody worked for them which created a bit of discomfort for students specially girls.
Course Curriculum Overview
The entire course was divided into 9 subjects. The previous year that is the first year had 4 subjects which were more of a basic understanding which included micro, macro economics and the final year had 5 subjects. The entire Economics curriculum was carefully subjugated into parts so that students can access them easily and increase their knowledge base and information about the subject. the examination was also based upon the need and fact that requires in depth understanding of the topic. Apart from this, the examination was conducted in a timely manner and the level of paper was also moderate to difficult. The marking scheme was also as per the official scheme prescribed by the university making the entire process smooth and student friendly. I personally chose this course due to the fact that I had great amount of interest towards economy and it's functioning since class 12th. So it becomes more lucrative for me to complete my higher education in it.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid around 12000-15000 for my entire course of 2 years. At the time of admission you are required to fill the admission form along with submitting the college fees which ranges to 4000 to 5000. This may increase every year. After this once you are admitted at the time of examination, an examination form has to be filled for which the fees will be paid which ranges to around 3000. Similar process is followed for the next year. I didn't receive any scholarships owing to the fact that I am from general category. But scholarship can be availed easily if you are from reserved categories. Few other negligible charges were included in the 4000 paid at the time of admission which included library fees, development fees etc and some were also paid during the filling of examination form.
Campus Life
Owing to the fact that this course was more preferable to students preparing for other aspects of life as such no festivals and fairs were organised during my course duration. I personally myself took all the necessary and relevant books from the college library. The college library is vast and enormous and provides all sort of books required by students during their course duration. It becomes very handy and helpful while students to access these books and make the best use out of them. Sports activities were organised in due courses of time which permitted students to take best use of their interests. Extra curricular activities like debates etc were also organised to boost confidence level in students so that they can develop their personality apart from just increasing their knowledge base during the course duration.
Admission
I personally wanted to finish my masters from my home town only so that I can focus more on my government job preparation. So I didn't apply for any other colleges as such. Talking about the admission process of my college, it was really smooth and student friendly. Once the forms are released for admission, one needs to fill that form by providing all the necessary documents required and by submitting the required fees. Once the forms are filled the college in due course of time releases the list of students admitted to the college. Two lists are published with proper intervals and the names of students officially admitted to the college are published into the second list. Once your name is their, official I'd card of the college will be given to students and they will be allowed to take benefits of the facilities provided.
Faculty
The faculty of college was really really good and cooperative. They were available 24*7 for the students and guided us throughout our entire course duration. Apart from teaching they also focused on developing the skill set and confidence of students so that they can deal with the real life challenges of the world. One of the faculty member was Neelam Saraswat ma'am, she was one of the best teacher I have ever found. Although I didn't get enough chance to talk to her but the short duration of conversation we had was really helpful and mesmerizing. She also gave me a book of a renowned economist so that I can enhance my knowledge base. All other faculty members also tried to organise workshops and debate like competitions which were more of a orientation class to make students aware about the course and their peers. Also the first prize was given to motivate students and increase the competitive spirit among them.
Night Life
The college life at my college was not so happening and interesting like other colleges around the country. There were as such no late night activities organised and students typically were from far away places so they didn't attend the college much. There was a cafeteria in the college where students hang out a lot and also the big garden of the college provided enormous places for them to relax a bit. The college campus was located nearby to the main road and vehicles and transport facilities were available all the time which made it easy for students to go back to their places. Also the classes timings were very suitable and friendly and made it more easy for students to attend the classes.
