There is ZARA biotech which provide internships for biotechnology students. Some of our seniors have done internships through this company. They generate some products using biotechnology which helps with our daily life problems.

Fees and Financial Aid

It is the only college affiliated to calicut university which provides aided bsc biotechnology course. I paid my 1st semester fees 1345 rs and paid admission fees about 2500 rs. Almost every one has same fees as it is a aided course. They provide various scholarship such as egrantz and so on..

Hostel Facilities

4

In hostel there are 4 beds and 4 study tables. There is a common bathroom ath 1st floor. We have to use that bathroom. The light will be turn off by the sisters at 11 pm. Meal is not so good. Somedays its better somedays its worse. You can book admission on admission day and take admission on the day before you start your class. There is phone curfew and night curfew. The monthly rent is 6000. I have changed the hostel. Now iam in a homestay around 1 km distance with the college. Josh homestay. It is far better than college hostel. There is no phone or night curfew. All you need is to report to the owner if you are going to late. It is in the town. Irinjalakkuda taluk hospital is near to this. There is big cathredal church near this. Food is great. There is 3 types room of 5000 rs, 5500 rs, 6000 rs

Admission

I have also enrolled in Mar Ivanious College, Thiruvananthapuram. When i looked into qualification, I thought my college is better.. It has a NIRF 86th rank and is the best 3rd women's college in India.. It is accredited with NAAC A++ and the faculties here are superb. I was in waiting list at Mar ivanious college and later i found that if i accept it, i would have been granted. Admission process at SJC is simple. Apply online on their website. If you are accepted HOD will call you and informs about the admission date. On that day we are requested to attend there in person with our parents. Students who have scored 90% and above in plus two board exam is considered first

Faculty

4

The faculties here are the best ones. They provide a great class. They are very talented and trained. All faculties in biotechnology department is excellent. Dr. Naijil joseph is the head of department. He is the best faculty you will ever have. Faculties are very supportive. For exams, semester wise there are 2 internal exams. The best score out of these will be calculated for internal marks. And the semester exam comes in every 6 months. The college provides an academic calender and follow it to provide exams up to date.

Night Life

5

After class some of the students use gym. It is free. We can use it any time. Every type of gym instruments are there. And some of the students will be in library. Some of them will be in fitness park which is a open gym. Some of them will in cafteria.. Library is well facilitated and food in cafteria is great!! Hostel is a bit strict but enjoyable.. Only thing i can't accept is there is a control in phone usage as at 10 pm we have to surrender our phone to the sister. It is very difficult to study at night time without phone. Food is also adjustable. We have to get to the hostel at 5.30 pm. College starts at 9.15 am and ends at 3.30 pm. There is a mscoops cafe outside the campus whic is favouite for all students. There is a park nearby. It is a town area and it is safe at night times.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
