Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was vey diverse to say, at the least. Every semester focused on some specific parts of mechanical engineering. First two years were basic knowledge required for every mechanical engineer. Third year was different. The subjects diversified in many categories, Thermal engineering, Fluid mechanics, metrology, Mechatronics and much more optional subjects were provided. The exams were tough. In order to pass the exams with good grades, one should know good knowledge of applications of various theories. Memorizing was almost useless (only some rules and periodic tables and some ratios were important to be memorized). Whole exam's intent was to if one can apply the knowledge for getting some task done. Each semester exams had a 5-6 month gap which was given for teaching the subject and submissions of the assignment and projects. Before the exams there is a 15 preliminary leave provided which gave students ample time to revise.
Internships Opportunities
So all companies had the position as a trainee or intern. Cummins Pvt Ltd Tata Motors Tech Mahindra Kirloskar oil There were many companies for each course fields. I am not aware what companies came for other courses as the placement dates varied for each course.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible in their sixth semester i.e. their final semester after their internship programme. The acceptance ratio was also 80% for my stream. Some people were rejected by some companies for poor marks or having inadequate skills than the job demands. I was hired by Tata Motors, which I left a few months before. I was going to pursue degree after diploma, but certain financial issues rendered me unable to pursue further education. A friend of mine was accepted at Cummins Pvt Ltd for a salary of 32000 per month where his internship took place. The average salary provided in the campus placement were 18000-25000 My placement salary was 17000.
Fees and Financial Aid
So if applying here, one will need 70k rupees per year. 58000 is annual tution fees for first year. There is a gradual increase in tution fees for each year. 1200 for lab manuals and some necessary materials for the course. 7000-8000 registration fees. (Might differ) Usually scholarship covers all except lab manuals fee and library annual maintenance (120rs)
Campus Life
There were many clubs, made by the students. Study club, games club for indoor games and eSports, sport clubs for outdoor games and fine arts club for the creative ones. Library was accessible. I am not aware of the scale but one was able to borrow 7 books for 15 days on one library card. 2 of these cards were provided to every student throughout the curriculum. There were projector displays and whiteboards were used in every class. Many machines and tools are provided by the workshop section under supervised usage. There were many fairs and inter school competitions like Robocon available for participation.
Admission
I god comfirmed in two colleges - Govt Polytechnic and Bharati Vidyapeeth in my CAP(Centralised Admission Process) round. I chose Bharati Vidyapeeth because it was renowned in my friend zone to be a prestigious college, and sure it is. I was rejected by the rest of the colleges because of the cutoff. Overall admission process was fast and smooth. Diploma courses didn't had any entry exams, but degree college in the University had entry tests. Diploma admission acceptance was purely based on cutoff. Cut-off requirements change every year so one can access the website for exact info.
Faculty
Faculties were very good and cooperative. The learning environment was sometimes interesting and sometimes booring. My engineering darwing faculty, Nr. R. S. Deshmukh is an excellent teacher as well as a good emotional support for all students. His teaching methods were second to none in the field. He was a problem solver for all the students with special needs(like students who stayed far away from homes or had some financial issues). Another good teacher there was Mr. Anup Raut. He taught us Theory of Machines. He was also good with his words and helped many students for future admissions for degree.
