BSOLS - a promising law college

It's an integrated course. So we have ten semesters and six subjects each in all semesters. My course is a mix of commerce and law. So the first two years are more concentrated on commerce subjects like business management, accounting of companies, business communication, various fields in business and economics etc. The last three years give more importance to law subjects. The laws relating to companies, administration, labour laws, industrial laws, private and public international laws, land law, property law, and Codes like IPC, CPC, CrPC, Evidence act, contracts, tort and constitution are given importance in each semester. It's a very vast syllabus including all the necessary laws that a lawyer should be aware of in our country. The college is affiliated to the syllabus of Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam, Kerala

NiThe internships are done by the students as a mandatory course of two weeks under any department, or legal firm etc. It's usually without any stipend as it's only for two weeks but to be done in 10 different institutions

It's a management college, but seats are allotted on the basis of merit as well as donations given. The merit seat depends on the rank of the student in KLEE, the Kerala Law Entrance Examination as well as the school certificates. The management seats are allotted on other criteria. Financial aids and scholarship from the government is made available to the students who deserve it.

The programmes held by the students union include arts day, sports day, union day, literature fest and women's day celebrations. Importance is given to sports, especially basketball and football. There's also wings for NCC AND NSS. There are clubs like women club, integrity club, heritage clubs, language clubs, nature club and most importantly legal aid club all coordinated by students and supervised by teachers. Legal aid club also gives free legal advice to the needy who reach out to the college. The students are growing in an environment where they care for nature as well as other animals and fellow humans

The eligibility of the course is higher secondary education and to pass the law entrance exams The admission application was done in online mode. I secured a merit seat. This was my first preferred college. Since I secured good rank in the entrance I got placed into my first preference here. The application form and details is given in the college website. And if any more doubts, it can be cleared by calling the reception or the office, the number of which is given in the website. Another way is to directly meet the officials in the college by going there. The exams are conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University and the timings were a bit lagging after the Corona but now it has been corrected and exams occur right after the semester ends. There's internal exams, out of ten, two per semester out of which the "best of two" marks is taken. Attendance also has 5 marks. And the assignment and presentation of it ogether is also evaluated in 10 marks.

The faculty is very much educated and friendly to students. They're very dedicated to teaching the students the best and clearing the doubts. There's almost 50 faculty members with expertise on fields like law, management, commerce, social science and languages. And there's five year LLB courses, three year LLB and two year LLM course. Faculty members have done their post graduation, some are on the way to gain their PhD and a few have already achieved the doctorate on their research topics. A few faculty members have also published law journals and text books used by students of various campuses and universities. The professors are easy to approach and clears any apprehension in the minds of the students.. they use various powerpoint presentations, their practical knowledge and personal experiences to teach us. Overall it's a very friendly environment with a dedicated batch of teachers
