Likes
- Campus was beautiful, a perfect environment to study. Being away from crowd it was exciting and interesting.
- We could interact with people from all across India and make new friends. Also the people of Aizawl were very kind and helpful at all times.
- The faculty were great, they not only helped us to grow academically but in life too
Dislikes
- The campus is far away from the main city so it can become a difficulty to access the city from the campus.
- Food will not suit the north Indian palate, and for vegetarians options are quite limited.
Course Curriculum Overview
Digital media is the new trend and this course sets us on a base were we can adapt and learn new media accurately and efficiently. However, due to being a new course, it was bit lengthy, adjusting the course to only nessecary elements and adding more practical experience would be better.
Internships Opportunities
Media as well as corporate companies offer internship to the students so that they can be industry ready before they get placed. We also have to make a dessertation on a topic related to our course for the completion of the degree. This dissertation helps us learn research and understanding skills. For our batch the internship was not there because the course started quite late but now intership is an important part of the curriculum.
Placement Experience
After the final, 2nd semester placement drive starts were students can go and apply for the placements. The placement drive happens in the Delhi Central campus were all students go. Companies like NDTV, Prasar Bharati, Accenture ad factor, trident and many more come for the placement drive most students get placed with package range in from 3.5 lakhs to 7 lakhs for annum. If you have completed your masters and your applying for period diploma then you can go for a job or some students even up for additional courses like a masters degree to further and enhance their skillset. I opted for a masters in mass communication to enhance my skills and get better jobs in the future.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are both government and private scholarships offered by media companies and more. The fees is more or less not altered as off now. There are few compulsory charges like the registration fees but the fees is alright if it's compared with private institutions offering same courses. I opted for higher studies but placement options are wide and everyone can get placed easily.
Campus Life
Being based in Aizawl, we saw of festivals like Christmas, Chapchar kut. We also celebrated many Hindu festivals within the campus including Holi. The classrooms are enquiped with smart boards computers to make digital learning easy. There is also a small library with books dedicated to the courses. indoor games like table tennis is also in the campus for the students.
Hostel Facilities
There is a single non--sharing room in the hostel which all the students get. The room costs 3500 a month and is a decent room with a bed, study table and an almirah to keep things. The food was also decent however it might not be very suitable for the North Indian palette.
Admission
You have to give the CUET entrance exam to qualify for the course. But first, you need to complete your bachelors degree as it is a post graduate diploma. The exams are in June-July and classes start by August - September. However it will be better if IIMC has its own exam instead of CUET
Faculty
The faculty were very educated, helpful and knew the subjects they were teaching. They were qualified and experienced in media field as well. We also had extra classes scheduled after college hours if it was necessary for us.
