- Absence of a campus has always been a missing piece.
- Lack of hostel facilities.Currently we are allotted in bpharm hostel.We dont have a specific hostel for dental students.
- It is difficult to go for other medical subjects to medical college.We have classes in dental college and medical college and we have to walk here ro there and there is no sufficient transport facility.
Course Curriculum Overview
I'm in first year currently and in first year it is basically all the basics or the preclinical studies.they help us develop the skills required before entering the clinics.Numerous test papers are conducted which is great for revision of the topics. Although we are dental students, I think every medical student should know the basic emergency skills like CPR.I think adding the basic medical emergency skills as part of the course would be great.
Internships Opportunities
Our course is a 4 and a half year course and a one year internship program. We are required to pass all the papers of the 4 and a half year subjects and then undergo a compulsory 1 year internship in the college clinics.
Fees and Financial Aid
Currently we are charge a fee of 20840 per annum but that isn't the only expense in BDS.we require a lot of instruments which are not provide by the college.Since it is a government college, there is lack of funds and hence we have to contribute some amount for all the programs and events conducted in the college.We are provided various governmental and private scholarships like sensodyne scholarship, CH Muhammed Koya Scholarship etc.
Campus Life
We have various cocurricular activities. We have the interdental arts and sports.College arts and sports day.There are social clubs like NSS which conduct various awareness classes and events Ther are dance club, music band and sports teams for various sport events also.
Hostel Facilities
Currently we have been allotted rooms in bpharm hostel due to lack of specific hostel for dental students.The current hostel has great infrastructure and the rooms are well maintained.The mess food is also of decent quality and suggestions are always welcome.
Admission
Eligibility to this course is NEET entrance exam score and rank.I had a keam rank of around 2000.There are various reservations for various castes like obc, SC, ST and for minorities. The difficulty that I faced during the admission process is that there was no accurate information about the documents required either in there website nor could anyone be contacted.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is sufficient and we have never felt a lag or disturbance in our studies.They are almost always available for us to contact and communicate our issues,both educational and personal.
