What Students Say
Likes
- Faculty is student friendly and are really ready to help you achieve greater feats in life. They are always first to inform us of the various opportunities available. It's important to be on their good side of you want to excel.
- The class hours are short and there is so much flexibility for you to enhance and take extra classes and develop in fields you are genuinely interested in. The degree alone won't help you in real life.
- Semester exams are scheduled properly according to their difficulty levels and you don't have to worry about your GPA as long as you are a good student and attends class regularly.
Dislikes
- The environment may not be friendly since there are all types of students being admitted so watch out for the good and bad atmospheres.
- There are way too many holidays in the end of the years. There are also some unannounced holidays that you have to watch out for.
- This course may be hard for students from arts background especially since there will be Advanced mathematics and accounting subjects but can be passed if you pay attention in class.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course which I chose was BBA (General) ie no specialisation. There are total 5 subjects per semester. It just gives you an idea of all different aspects of the course. I like the fact that you don't have to choose a specialisation because it gives you freedom to develop and enhance in any field you would like to. The classes are usually 3-4 hours long period day so it gives you a lot of flexibility to enhance extra skills you would like to develop. You can also do internships and part time job along with the course. The teachers are really friendly and will help students who are genuinely interested to grow in their career. They teach well too despite the lack of modern technology in the rooms, their knowledge itself is enough for you to explore by yourself. Semester exams occur twice a year as the course is 3 years long. So you'll appear 6 exams in total and are of medium difficulty. And there are vivas in the final year.
Internships Opportunities
I got and internship recommended by our HOD where I was offered the role of a Customer Executive in JDA Ltd. We were given projects like Claims nidan awareness campaign, Cars24 customer relations. Overall it was a good experience for a fresher. You get to learn the basics of service industries and how theyr reach out to their customers. I learnt how important marketing department is for the industry as a whole.
Placement Experience
Semester 4th,5th and 6th students are eligible for campus placements. There are some companies that hold interviews in the month of December for 2nd year students.(Early placement drive) Reputed companies like TechMahindra and Cognizant are the usual in our department and hire about 90% from the BBA department. The highest package here was 8LPA from campus drives in college. Average is 3-5 LPA The roles offered are Executives and sales head here. Right now, I'm pursuing skill classes and after getting my degree, I aspire to do job for 2-3 years or less and then clear the CAT exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
So far, there has been no significant increase in the fees for this course. It's just girls pay 100/- less than boys fir this course. Women empowerment. In total average, its 18,700 which are the tuition fees. There are really no service fees here since it's a government college. There are several scholarships especially for students who were in government college in their 12th class or if their parents are or were in civil services or army line. Eg. The latest one was Nua-O scholarship where probably 2000+ students of the same batch in different departments received scholarship from the government. Fees are fixed for all but scholarships are vast for the people in need of financial assistance. The HOD, being an active businessman and teacher as well, informs us of the opportunities available for internships and part time to grow in our career. Eg. I received 10k per month for 6 months in an internship. Internships help you to get placed in better job roles here with better salaries.
Campus Life
There are many seminars and functions that occur here. The annual function which usually is held in the months of August or September. It includes cultural activities where famous Odia singers are invited and perform for us. Flash mobs that are organised by the student council of the college occur annually. For our course, there are all books available, and our Library is usually open from 11am to 2pm and then from 3pm to 5pm. There are no smartboards in our room. Annual sports day is also held. Usually there are 2-3 sports activities being held every year. Usually in the months of July, August and January. There are NCC groups and management clubs created by students themselves to handle the event organisations of our department.
Admission
10+2 pass and minimum percentage for admission is 75% in 12th boards. Application form is available on the college's official website (kuu.ac.in) including all necessary notices regarding admission dates. Otherwise it can also be found by approaching the certificate room of the college in the ground floor. It's a self financing course in this college. There are no entrance exams to avail admission here. You just need good grades in your 10th and 12th boards. It would be really helpful if there was some good communication system between the applicants and the faculty on the admission day, because it was hectic finding the correct rooms on the first day of admission.
