Remarks

There are bad remarks, but I don't want to write them in public platform. Because my overall experience is good. And whatever my bad experience is that is present in all colleges. But the good thing is that we were able to share our dissatisfaction through the Proctorial System during our college days and currently we are also saying on the Annual Alumni Meet. Best of all the management eagerly listens to our complains.

Entrance Preview

Because of the fame of the college. At that time three to four colleges were on demand. GITA, C V Raman, Krupajal and Silicon. one-week also these colleges are in demand except Krupajal. Anyways I was reluctant to go to GIET Gunupur because of its location, my parents were reluctant to send me out of the state and my rank though good, not good enough for Burla or CET.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum was as per the BPUT pattern. BPUT is known among the top technical universities in India because of its question pattern according to the pedagogy. The first year syllabus was same for all branches, in which we are inducted to the basics of all branches. From getting second year that means third semester onwards branch related subjects started.

Internships Opportunities

Yes the college provide internship. I had availed two internships, one in my third year at BSNL and the other in my final year at SAIL. In both the places I didn't get any stipend, but my overall experience as a trainee was excellent.

Placement Experience

5

However good a college is, if it is capable of providing 80 - 85 percent placement in an academic year, then it is a good college. 100% placement is a myth and even IITs are not capable in providing it. Currently, I am working in Coca Cola as Senior Engineer, Maintenance Divison and I got this job through on campus placement 2 years back in the position of GET. In 2016 total 43 companies had visited our campus and from my branch with a strength of 60 students, 49 got recruited.

College Events

5

We used to have one week long celebration of Annual Technical Fest (Innovizon), Cultural Meet (Akankshya) and Sports Meet (Ahwaan). Then we celebrated annual departmental fest Ahamvrittee in which there used to be lots of competitive events like painting, debate, quiz, treasure hunt etc. Our EDP IIPC Cell used to conduct a week long program of its own to carve innovative skills among the students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible, quite feasible. At our time the course fees were 66000 per year and the hostel fees were 55000 per year. Actually the fee structure has been designed as per the middle class income people. So at the end, when a middle class boy gets a handsome job, all his investments in terms of course fees is returned to him.

Fees and Financial Aid

I didn't get any scholarship, as I am from general caste. But yes I availed loan from PNB. The college has tied up with PNB. So the branch inside the campus gave me a letter, which I pledged in the branch nearer to my residence in order to get loan.

Campus Life

5

Campus life was simply exceptional. We had a lush green campus with a big playground having facilities for cricket, football, basket ball, volley ball and badminton. For the gym lovers there is a multi gym and also a music club with all advanced musical instruments. In the tech fest Innovizon referred to my answer on question 10 there are scopes for robotics, project fair under MSME, ship building, Roadies etc. The college used to conduct debate competitions regularly under the flagship Give Me the Mike. Coming to gender ratio I would like to say 10:8 (Male:Female).

Hostel Facilities

5

I would rate it as good. Because in 55000 per year we used to have three days non veg a week - fish, egg and chicken on wed, fri and sun respectively. The accommodation was good. They used to give us a cup board, a table, a chair and a cot as far as furniture was concerned. I used to live in shared room with two other students. So the bathroom and toilet was common basis. But the sanitation was good, as sweepers used to clean them twice a day.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of the college is quite strong. Our alumni association is named as GITA Vintage - https://www.facebook.com/officialgitavintage/. Recently our Bangalore Chapter was started. There is GITA Vintage Arcade and an Alumni Lounge inside the campus. Every year we get a formal call to attend the annual cultural event Akankshya. Obviously alumni network is helpful. We are able to forward our resume to other companies, where our friends or seniors are working.

Exam Structure

Exam Structure was as per the BPUT pattern and the college conducted it quite strictly. Here I would like to advise those aspirants who choose Deemed Universities or Autonomous Colleges for their lousy exam pattern. In those colleges you will get passed with a good degree and perhaps you will also get a job. But what next. How will you sustain in competitive job environment if you don't know the material. In BPUT pattern one person teaches us, one set the question and then someone else used to evaluate the scripts. So we were bound to study well in order to score. That helped us in job, as we are still seeing students from KIIT and ITER are coming to our company, but their maximum retaining period is 6 months. They have 9.0 CGPA, but no knowledge.

Admission

I opted for 4 colleges in the counseling including GITA Bhubaneswar, but not the branch in which I pursued my engineering. Actually I opted for CSE and ECE. But I didn't got in counseling and not in the other three colleges. On insist of my neighbourhood bhaiya I came for direct admission and after examining the labs, department I took admission in EEE.

Faculty

5

Simply Awesome. Here I would like to refer to the previous question of you that however easy or difficult the course curriculum is, if you find good teachers then everything will be easy. Now when you are saying good teachers, it doesn't mean the teacher's academic degrees but his teaching ability. We were having a teacher feedback system where we used to rate our teachers' teaching capabilities without our identities were disclosed. On the basis of it we always got the best of the teachers as per our understanding.

Placement Experience:

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.

I choose this course because at first I was interested to automobile engineering but I didn't got it from other college so I preffered this mechanical engineering. It is a very though course as it seems. And there was 1:7 for faculty and student ratio. Faculties were highly qualified and some did PhD and m. Tech and other are fresher. The teaching skill differ person to person. The thermodynamics faculty was very excellent. In every year there was 2 semester and it is a little difficult. And before semester there was internal and viva.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Padmanava College of engineering is coming under Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT , odisha). As there is always a myth about private colleges that they help in cheating but from my experience padmanava College is strictly against cheating and rather it supports quality of education. If you are a hard working student you will pass the exam very easily.
