My experience at SDC

This place offers myriad oppotunities and is a boon to any career oriented/professional.

It is one of the largest institutions in the country that offers great clinical exposure, provides a platform that helps one grow into a holistic dental professional. It also offers student exchange/semester abroad programmes with various institutions such as Harvard, UCLA, UNC. And I took this course here as they offer coaching across various modalities of orthodontic treatment including lingual orthodontics, clear aligners, Damon system along with the conventional modalities.

The course curriculum is extensive and delves into both the clinical and theoretical aspects of orthodontia. Also, equal emphasis to coach on the various aspects such as research, clinical training, academia, and extra-curricular activities. Continuing dental education is an integral part of this course. The course offered here is unlike any other institution.

The college offers internship as part of their undergraduate programme. Also the post graduates get a monthly stipend of 25,000/-

The reputation of this institution precedes the candidate. The demand for graduates and passouts from this institution is very high as they are known to have been trained with the highest skills and modalities. Like any other dental college, a few always opt for private practice as well

We have events throughout the year. Academically we have intra/inter collegiate symposiums like to coachshowcase, star summit. We have a month long cultural and sports extravaganza during such asNovember- December. Various get togethers and dinners happen during Christmas, Navarathri, new year, Deepavali, etc.

The fee structure for MDS varies based on the speciality, either clinical or non clinical. Clinical is slightly expensive in comparison to other institutes but this is justified in terms of the patient exposure and facilities offered by this institution.

The institution does not offer any scholarships or loans for both post graduate and undergraduate students

The campus hosts three different colleges, the dental college, law college and a school of management studies. The dental college has a predominant female population. The campus has 24 hour security stationed at various locations. Extremely clean, green and a safe environment.

Various types of rooms are available, single, double, triple occupancy and also super deluxe occupancies. The rent varies accordingly. One is also allowed to have air conditioning in their room if they wish to. Mess food is a la carte basis, a minimum fare is taken and a card for the mess is provided. The cost is deducted according to the consumption and the remainder is refunded when vacating the hostel

The alumni network is well connected, the seniors offer guidance, support and great help be it in academics, research, clinical activities. The seniors are very friendly and make us feel like we’re part of the same family

Exams happen twice a year, internals and finals. Both theory and practical examinations with viva voce and external examiners. There is a fixed quota for getting exam clearances and if one fails to do so, he/she won’t be allowed to appear for the exams.

The admission process was through the centralised counselling via NEET-MDS. After the exmination, we had a counselling conducted by the authorising body for all the deemed universities. This counselling happened on 29.5.2017 in chennai. We were asked to pay the entire tuition fee on the day of seat allotment.

We have extremely qualified and experienced faculty. Three of our faculty are M.ortho(Edinburgh) qualified, our head of the department has a clinical experience of more than 30 years. They offer their valuable insights and guidance at every instance.
