Priyanka Kaushik's Review On National Institute Of Fashion Technology - [NIFT] Kangra, Kangra

College is really really good surrounded by the beauty of nature.

I wanted to study at NIFT because of my family background. My relatives do have their own exports houses and fashion studios. And the reason I took Kangra is that I love mountains and these towns. I'm very much fascinated by their beauty. So, I wanted to live in the mountains so that I can enjoy the peace.

Yes, we have internships after the end of the semesters. The stipend is not provided by all the industries.

There are a lot of job opportunities in the market at both designing and business level. Following are some of the profiles that you can apply for after completing this course: 1. Designer 2. Fashion Merchandiser 3. Fashion Event Organiser 4. Stylist 5. Fashion Consultant

There are a lot of national as well as international events that we can participate in. The college does have fresher's at the start of the semester. Then there's an event called converse, all the nift centers participate in different sports and cultural events. Then there's is a spectrum, that is of two days and is held in every campus. There's one event called spicules in only NIFT kangra, it's of 15-20 days.

It's a government institution so the fee is affordable. The fee is at least less than any other private fashion institution. The fee is submitted per semester for general students and for students under NRI quota, have to submit every year. For general students, the fee is approx 2 lacs.

Nift kangra is alike a small family where every individual is treated with respect and everyone's opinion, sexuality, and diversity is respected. Volleyball, basketball, badminton, cricket ground is there. There are a lot of events that takes place to encourage the students.

The Institution provides facilities for hostel accommodation for only girls. The hostels are spacious, safe and secured with a cordial environment and surrounded by pleasant landscapes. A hygienic kitchen has been provided with large dining halls. The rooms are well furnished. the college has ladies hostels accommodating 1400 (one thousand four hundred) and above borders. The hostels have round the clock Wi-Fi connectivity and medical facility. Proper hygienic condition and strict supervision are maintained throughout.

NIFT alumni are reconfiguring the institute's constellation of achievements and success stories. They are adding values in a different work scenario.

There's an entrance exam of NIFT. Basically there's two different exams for design and technology. I gave the technology one because I wanted to pursue fashion technology. My rank was 330 and I got kangra. I had many other choices like Hyderabad, Patna, Jodhpur etc. Since I'm a mountain child I choose kangra. Then afterwards counselling held on the basis on the ranks in which you have to submit all your documents along with the first semester's fee. Once you got all your documents verified, you then have to lock the center and that's how I got the admission.

In terms of the faculty, NIFT kangra's DFT (Department of Fashion Technology) dept. is relatively good. They all are alumni of NIFT and niift. They do have a great experience of teaching as well as the apparel industry. Nift kangra offers five courses i.e. Fashion designing, Fashion Technology, Fashion communication, Accessory designing, Textile designing. Accessory design faculty is not very good but other design and technology is good.
