Remarks

Good highlight location. It was situated at a nice place not outside the city. Commuting options bus and autos available which made it easier for us to visit. Bad highlight never gave enough exposure to research. Faculties lacked experience to teach or ex

Entrance Preview

Took AIEEE. Had a rank 298000 in India and 8572 in my state that is Odisha. Yes both are bad. Had a hard time in giving the exam. Lived in a hostel far from home preparing for crash courses but unfortunately suffered from Typhoid by the end of course and nearing time of AIEEE. Ended of scoring real bad. Always wanted to study computers. Ended up with no seat in no engineering college but fortunately many private colleges had vacant seats and decided to admit candidates who have scored less. My luck got me there. I got a seat to study computer science and saved myself a year.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

Course Curriculum was average. Made us go through things which were literally unnecessary for an engineer point of view studying computers. Curriculum lacked research based subjects. Practicals meant to help us but it ended up becoming another lengthy exercise for us,I would blame it on Faculties and their lack of experience on the subject. One time I walked to our faculty in practical asked him to teach me the Master-Slave of hard disk he ended up ignoring me and asked me to come back next week. Faculties really had no idea of the subjects. Never researched or never interested. They're looking for a nice paying job it seemed and were happy to have it.

Internships Opportunities

Internship was really good. I was an intern at aspect a company in Bangalore. Got there because of my Brother in law who worked there. College were nice, helpful and experienced. Always helped me in work sometimes shared the pressure as well. Advised me on my work and how to tackle it as well. Sometimes they would take me with them to client meetings which helped me in getting exposure to a different part of IT World. Mostly saw American Clients and how to talk and finalize a deal with them.I got a stipend of 8000 INR.

Placement Experience

2

Placements that came to college Satyam,Syntel. All other were off campus which included L&T,TCS,MapleSoft. All of them offered around 2.7 3 LPA as a fresher.

College Events

3.5

College had 2 festivals every year. One Annual festival and another a Tech festival. Annual Festival were exclusively for college student. Students collected money executed everything. Tech festivals were open to all colleges. Students from other colleges were invited to enter into different competitions. Tech fests were really big. Many competitions were there for different talents which included Dance,Singing,Robotics,Hackathon,Counter Strike for gamers,Marketing challenges etc.

Campus Life

2

Campus life was good. Gender Ratios seemed almost equal. We had as many girls as boys. Students were smart and participating in many occasions. For parties canteen offered a nice place. Wokshop was average and faculties were not experienced and helpful. Students helped each other. The one with a little bit of knowledge helped the ones with minimal knowledge. Diversity of students were from Bihar,Jharkhand,West Bengal with Odia students. Never seen or known anyone from a different part. Students were tolerant towards a different gender and respected them. Students from religions other than Hindu were present as well but not in a huge number but treated equally even from different religion or race. Sexual Orientations of few were towards Homosexuality. Some students accepted them some were not tolerant towards the sexual orientation of those students. As far as I remember a few were only interested in Politics. Although economic status of most students were Middle or upper middle class.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostels were nice. They were given only for 1st year and not beyond that. Fees were 28000 for a year back in 2007 included breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each room was shared by 3 boys with 3 beds and 3 tables. Back in 2007 28000 INR sounded too costly. Many

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors were not at all helpful. Ragging was common but not rampant. Basic ragging was seen in campus. Sometimes took place in front of faculties but they didn't stop. Interacting seniors were very few and were hardly ever seen in college. Facebook was only source to interact with them. Our juniors had bigger advantage and our batch never involved in ragging. Also back then SC had made it stricter so had the sleeping faculties who woke up and interrupted many of the students who tried talking with juniors.

Placement Experience:

There are internship opportunities at the starting of 3rd year and job opportunities at the starting or 4th year. This year many companies visited the campus which include DE Shaw, Flipkart, Oracle, TCS, VISA(for summer internship drive), and various start-ups like Sarvam AI and many more. Highest package was 56.8LPA by DE Shaw. Flipkart took a total of 20 candidates (12 were selected for 34.5LPA and 8 for internship opportunities). Average package going around 9LPA. TCS mass recruited candidates for around 4 LPA, and ORACLE has been consistent at taking candidates for 24 to 25 LPA. Percentage of Students placed for CSE branch is 90. Many students opt for M Tech courses via GATE exam after getting their degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.

The course and curriculum is nice as they are interelated to each other and encourage us to study more and makes us more curious to learn new things but we have some minor course which I don't think it is required for the course and we only have some credits for that course not even exam is being conducted

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
