- When comparing to other nursing colleges the students are given freedom in the type of dress they could wear.
- The revision which is provided by the college before the university exam is very effective and it helps in preparing us for the university exam.
Dislikes
- Stress, this is not about the college. The course itself is very stressful and sometimes it is too difficult to handle all the stress.
- The students have much limitations in doing procedures in the parents hospital which indirectly affects the efficiency of students
Course Curriculum Overview
Nursing offers a wide range of job opportunities that was the prime reason for me to choose this course. The faculty students ratio in KIMS would be something like 1:10.All the teachers posses an educational qualification of Masters in any subject (MSc Nursing). The main teaching method used by the teachers are lecture cum discussion. The AV aids includes PPT and in case of subjects like Anatomy, Foundations of nursing etc. labs are available to provide more exposure to the students and gain in depth knowledge.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered at the parent hospital KIMS Health. In the semester system, there is an internship for the last 6 months that is 8th semester. The students will be having morning, Evening and Night shifts. Bus facility is available to and from the hospital, Stipend is not provided.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees of first year is Rs. 1,03,000 which comprises of a tuition fees of Rs. 63,500 , additional fees of Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 10,000 which is to be paid additionally in the first year (This fees is to be paid only in the first year and not in the other years). E-grants scholarship is available for SC/ST students. Hostel fees is 6,800/month that is 3,500 for rent and 3,300 for food.
Campus Life
A college day is conducted every year in the college. This college provides an opportunity in developing the talents of the students by providing proper opportunities for both sports and arts. Sports day and Arts day is conducted every year in the college and the students who are blessed with the talents are taken for competitions at different levels. There is a library in the college which has a wide range of books and library period is also given to the students.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility for girls is available. There are a total of 3 hostels under the college. The hostel for the first year students are really good but when it comes to the second year hostel or the hostel near the college, the water is highly chlorinated. The overall quality of food is good, you have the opportunity to raise complaint against food in the mess meeting. The registration for availing hostel facility is done at the time of college admission itself and you have to carry passport size picture of three people who would come to visit or pick you up from the hostel.
Admission
The admission was based on 12th marks. I got admission to this college through PNCMAK. After the allotment list is published you will have to get the admission memo which contains the details regarding the date of admission. I had also contacted the college office to clarify my doubts and they helped me alot.
