Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the course because of my passion for the English language. The college has a good amount of faculty members and students. There were about 20 faculties in my department and each year had about 50 students in them. The faculties were experienced with either a Ph.D. or with NET. They also used various methods and techniques to teach. We had an online portal called myklassroom where we were given assignments and our entire assessment was made. The syllabus was also good. We had two internal tests followed by a Model exam, after which the semester exams were written.
Internships Opportunities
We have good internship opportunities. In the fourth semester, I was given an opportunity and I worked with the Indian Express. I was not given any stipend but I had a really good experience and learned a lot of things. After a few days I also got another internship opportunity with the Indian Express and my college allowed me to go for the internship. In the final semester, we had a project to do and we had a good experience
Placement Experience
From the fourth semester onwards students are given placement training. And there are a lot of companies that hire on campus at Krishna College. You will have a good placement opportunity. We needn't worry about the training because there are a lot of trainers who come to the college and train the students. We have trainers from the FACE Institute that trained us. I got companies like Amazon, IBM, Infosys, TCS, Teach for India, and a lot more. There were salary packages ranging from 1.5L - 3.5 L per annum. About 70% of the students were placed in any of the companies. I got placed in 3 companies with good packages.
Fees and Financial Aid
They had a fee structure that was almost similar to most of the colleges in Coimbatore. Paying an amount of about 22-25k per semester was worth it as they provide us with good placements. The fee was high in the first semester after which it gradually reduced. I personally did not take any scholarship but there are scholarships available for SC/ST students and PWD students.
Campus Life
There were a lot of literary festivals that were conducted. We have department functions where we have competitions like drama, mime, soliloquy, theatre, and a lot more. Apart from this they also conducted various national seminars. In each semester they conduct at least 2 programs. The library is also huge and has a lot of reference materials as well as fiction. They also have OPAC so it is easy for us to access the books and check their availability. The classrooms are well equipped with smart classrooms. So that ppts and various materials related to the topics are presented to all the students in the class. They also let us participate in all extracurricular activities. OD is given to students if they want to go to other colleges for various events. They do not restrict the students from going to other colleges. Opportunity is given to all the students. There are also a lot of clubs such as NSS, Rotract, NCC, Theatre Club, and a lot more.
Admission
The applications were available online and offline. I had to make a reservation for the course. I directly visited the college and made an enquirement. I paid 10,000 rupees for it. This was done by January. My results were out by the end of April after which I visited the college on the day of the results. Since I had already made a reservation, they checked my marks and as I scored above 90% in English I immediately got a seat. After which I was asked to pay the full amount for the fees.
