Hotel management is not restricted to hotels. You can pursue your career in hotels, cruise lines, cabin crew, retail sectors, hospitals etc. For applying in IIHM, you can visit their website or the contact number mentioned over there.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I had intrest in culinary arts but after my industrial training I chose to be a part of Food and Beverage service department. All the faculties are highly experienced and they were part of the industry in past with very reputed organizations. Exams in our college are taken semester wise.
Internships Opportunities
For our internship companies like Oberoi, Taj, Accor, ITC and Marriott came and the job profile was given as Industrial Trainee. During our industrial training we have to make a log book of our everyday tasks done. After our training we have to make a PowerPoint presentation as well as a word report explaining our learning and experience throughout the training.
Placement Experience
After the completion of the course that is in Semester 6 students are ready to join the industry. Placement interviews take place from Sem 5 itself so the students are also prepared with everything. For placement companies like Oberoi, Taj, Accor, ITC, Marriott, and different food chains like Burger King and Taco Bell came. Students are selected on the basis of the performance they do in interviews.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees is designed according to the facilities provided to the students. For scholarship students need to fulfill certain criteria regarding their marks in 12th when they need a scholarship in 1st year but after that, it will depend upon their performance in college exams.
Campus Life
There are different events organized year by year for students. In 1st year we learn how to setup a breakfast, in 2nd year we learn how to setup a lunch and in 3rd year (final year) we as in students have a FINE DINE event where General Managers of 5 star hotels come for lunch. In our fin year we also do a food fest where every single thing is managed by students, teachers do help with the things like how to do budgeting and what is right and what is wrong.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel was provided to us in 1st year which had all facilities. Food was given to us from time to time. Cleanliness was done every single day. Pest control was also done from time to time. But due to Covid-19 and rules and regulations provided by the government hostel facility is not given now.
Interview Experience
Group discussions are based on the situations going on in the hospitality industry as well as current affairs not only domestic but international. For preparing for GD we need to follow up with the current affairs and news.
