Remarks

There were quite a few colleges I applied to but convenience and reputation was the major major factor I went with SK somaiya. I got admitted based on the linguistic minority quota. The cutoff for my course in 2019 was roughly 65% for general students, linguistic minorities enjoyed a 45% cutoff. The admission process was easy, they don't give offline forms, the only mode is online. Once you receive admissions, you're then guided by senior students to fillup other fillup forms required to register at the college itself.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course syllabus is vast and therefore can give you plenty of exposure. The reason I chose the course was due to the reason it isn't a very specific program but rather a flexible one. The student faculty ratio would be around 8:1. All teaching faculties have either completed their doctorate or are currently doing alongside teaching. The exams were conducted in 3 formats: internal, external and practical as per guided by Mumbai University. To the best of my experience and knowledge, Internal exams are the toughest to pass considering most of the students don't take it seriously and therefore are usually unprepared for the same.

Internships Opportunities

5

Most of the time when companies visit the campus they offer the role of a junior or associate level job. The stipend isn't much but the experience gained is worth more than anything that could be learned. Usually, it's private limited companies that pick a couple of students from a batch each time they visit.

Placement Experience

5

Students are usually placed in their final year, various companies come for placement like reliance, jio, Tata, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Vistara etc. Other than these major mass recruiting companies various startups even offer work to junior students considering their eligibility. The college has a good reputation for placing almost 100% students each year. After completing my degree I plan on doing post graduation from the same college itself.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is generally the same for all colleges under Mumbai University and it's quite reasonable for the quality of education and facilities that are provided by the campus. Of course, they are various scholarships and financial aid available. Although scholarships are very limited but considering pandemic financial aids were given to those in need.

Campus Life

5

Annual fests of the college are amazing and worth waiting for every year, they are usually conducted at the end of the year. The library is great, there are 2 libraries available in the college building itself let alone the campus where students can borrow seamlessly with the help of an id card. The campus includes various grounds and arenas for different sports activities. Students can participate and train whenever they like to. Other than that there is an auditorium to practise drama and an explicit arts room. There are various social groups available to participate and perform in, all of which are headed and organised by students themselves which is a great thing.

Interview Experience

5

No, there was no additional tests required for admission other than the regular national/state exams. In the case of a bachelors degree, only regular 12th standard marks are required. Although the college might consider extra-national tests given, however, it's not compulsory.

Bachelor of education (B.ed) is a professional couse and hence I pursued this couse as I want govt job . Teachers are very helpful and internship was easy , we completed our internship at ease . They sent us to local schools which have less to no facilities, some school lack basic amenities such as bathroom and water . Even some schools have 10-20 student. All the schools are marathi medium , I was allotted rashtra saint tukdoji vidyalaya and sushil himmatsinghka vidyalaya, both are top school of wardha but the distance is too much.
