Entrance Preview

JEE and i had rank 1982. I was passionate about this branch so i have taken electronics & telecom branch in KEC because this college was a very reputed college at that time.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure was quite good.we had 6 subjects in 1st semester and each subject was from different engineering branches. Maths, english, basic electronics, mechanics,. And from 2nd year we had most of the subjects related to our branch that is electronics & telecom.

Internships Opportunities

No, our college did not provide any kind of internship. But we have done different kinds of dummy projects which were helpful during our campus placements.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement was quite good but not good enough.first company for our batch was TCS. It has selected some 49 students from our college. And after that some 4 companies have come and they have selected very few students. And most of the placements were off campus which is pull drive.so many colleges used to register and the selection procedure used to be very tough as the number of students participating used be a big number.

College Events

4.5

Technical fest used to happen in our college. We used to show all our talents and responsibilities in the fest .And cultural events used to be very exciting and entertaining for us as some Bollywood celebrities also used to come to give their live performances.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure was quite feasible i must say. For first year we used to give 75 k during admission and from 2nd year it was 69 k till fourth year. As i was staying in hostel i had to pay hostel fees also and it was 55 k per year. So for 4 years i have spent around 5 lakhs in both college and hostel.

Fees and Financial Aid

One scholarship used to be offered to us for 10 k per year. That is based upon your CGPA in specific semesters and they will screen it down by checking your parents annual income.

Campus Life

5

Extracurricular activities were awesome in our college. We had a chance to take part in tech fest which was being conducted in all the colleges in orissa. We have done a project based upon robotics, it was a quite cool experience. And the ratio between the guys and girls in our college was almost same, not a big difference in number.

Alumni/Alumna

We had a pretty good interaction with our seniors. As soon as we entered the college we had a fresher party with our seniors. They were quite helpful and interactive.

Exam Structure

Exams were quite hectic. We had 8 semesters in 4 years and 3 internals in each semester that will be 24 internals in total. Apart from that we had to submit lab records and projects. For each semester 3 to 4 labs were there. So the total exam system was quite tough for us.But at the end of day it's all worth the pain of exams and assessments .

Admission

I went for admission on the 2nd day of admission dates according to my ranking in JEE. I have opted for 5 colleges among which krupajala was my first option so luckily i got a seat in KEC. The admission procedure was a lengthy process. We had to give all the documents and had to fill couple of forms and the whole procedure took some 4 hrs.

Faculty

4.5

All the faculties were good actually. They were highly qualified and teaching style was awesome. Some faculties were talking even extra classes if the course was not completed near before the exams. They were very helpful and supremely talented. Any kind of doubts they were able to solve. I must say all the faculties are very inspirational.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The technical background and future influenced me to choose this course. The preparation for real-world applications or further academic pursuits are average. Theres no fair improvement needed in the course curriculum and teaching methods. The frequency of the exams are 2 sem exams and 4 quiz in class exams. The timings for sem exams are 3 hours while for quiz tests its 30 minutes. The difficulty level is average of all the exams

Also there are companies like Amazon or GOOGLE as well. The approx percentage including off and on campus is more than 90%. My plans are basically to explore my entrepreneurship skills.

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology - [KIIT], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Mar 27, 2024(Enrolled 2021)

Placement Experience:

Placement record is not so good.. companies like Microsoft and Google have blacklisted KIIT due to poor performance and mismanagement by the KIIT in providing with the right candidates. KIIT shortlists students in basis of multiple tests taken on platforms like AMCAT and on that basics provides the profiles of best performing candidates to the companies invited for campus hirings regardless of the field and job specifications and requirements, so basically KIIT has a very below average performance Training and Placement Cell as they lack decision making and management skills to segregate candidates for hirings according to their skills and not by their general scores and CGPA. NOTE: Companies have shown least interest in KIIT for last 2 years and the poor performance of previous batches and mismanagement by KIIT authorities. KIIT promises 100% placements but that is actually far from reality.
