Remarks
1. I had applied for GIM, TISS, SIHS, XIMB -RM. I didn't join GIM due to hefty fees for a non-flagship course, SIHS because of no proper placement details and XIMB -RM out of no interest in the course field. For TISS, I got waitlisted for the applied course so couldn't enrol. 2. I didn't avail any quota for admission. 3. For MBA Hospital and Health Management there's no age limitation. Bachelor's in any specialization with 50% marks in aggregate are allowed for the course. Candidates should have valid scores in exams like CAT/XAT/CMAT/NMAT/MAT/ATMA/GMAT. For CAT, the cut off percentile is 55. The university conducts there own institute's entrance exam IIHMR UMAT. They can appear for UMAT and appear for round 2. 4. The admission process is divided into 2 parts. Part 1- Appear for exams like CAT/XAT/CMAT/NMAT/MAT/ATMA/GMAT or IIHMR UMAT and submit the scorecard. Part 2 - GD & PI is based on general topics and background. GD has an abstract & CA topic.
Course Curriculum Overview
1. With a background in Pharmaceutical Sciences, I found MBA HHM as a great career aspect to broaden the work field and not being limited to the pharmacy sector only. 2. 37:180 + guest faculty 3. The faculties are very qualified and experienced. The faculties have masters and PhD degrees from national international reputed colleges/universities. The teaching method involves a mix of traditional and modern approaches. The professors are from universities like IIPS, JNU, Amity University, etc. 4. The term exams are conducted after every term. Module course plan approach is conducted with midterm exams taking place in between to analyze student's understanding. The exams conducted are easy to solve if you're well versed with the lectures and materials to read provided.
Internships Opportunities
Internships provided at the university covers the domain of hospitals, pharmaceuticals, startups, medical IT, consultancy, services, development sector, govt projects/missions etc. The stipend varies according to the organization.
Placement Experience
The placement process starts from the 2nd year. The placement cell and committee take great efforts in providing quality training for the same by conducting mock interviews, business etiquettes sessions, etc. At the start of the 2nd year, one needs to decide one specialization between hospital and health management. Likewise, organization profiles are suggested and the process takes place. Companies like ZS, Deloitte, Narayana Hospital, CARE, Cipla, Accenture, Aditya Birla Capitals etc come for recruitment. No of offers varies according to different organizations. The highest package trend has been 11.8, 17.12 and 10.5 respectively for years 2019, 2020 and 2021. The average is 5.52, 5.8 and 5.1 respectively for 2019, 2020, 2021. A 100% placement record has been maintained by IIHMR University. After getting the degree I'll be looking for career options in the public health sector.
Fees and Financial Aid
1. The hike in fees did not take place for the batch 2021-2023. The cost of the study is pretty decent compared to other institutes like GIM, SIHS. All the facilities like hard copies of study materials, uniforms, etc are provided by the university. 2. There are two scholarships provided by the university namely Late Shri P D Agarwal Scholarship/Fellowship and Scholarships for Fee Wavier. A special fee waiver is for defense personnel getting enrolled in the course. The stipend provided varies according to the companies coming for summer training. It can be a 10k to 40k per month stipend and completely based on the organization. The placements are very decent and give a good ROI. The highest package in the 2021 batch was 10 lakhs and an average of 5.2 lakhs.
Campus Life
There is an annual conference Pradanya that takes place at IIHMR university. It usually takes place during Dec-Jan. Apart from the conference, other festivals and events like foundation day, etc are conducted. The library is well resourced and we have the same service available in the online library for 24/7 access. We have sports events at the campus annually where inter-school competitions take place. The extracurricular activities take place organized by the committees or schools in the university like essay writing contests, innovation development challenges etc. There are 6+ committees present at the university namely placement, cultural, sports, public relations etc. There are various clubs too like speak club, E-cell club etc.
Hostel Facilities
Separate hostel facilities are provided for boys and girls. The mess charges need to be paid differently. In girls hostels, there are 5 types of hostels types and each of them varies in terms of rent and facilities. You can check the website for proper details. The process for hostels starts right after admission and allotment of hostels is based on a first come first basis. There are many good localities for rented rooms or PG. You can always ask the seniors for the details.
Interview Experience
The admission process has GD and PI as a second round. The topic I can recall for me was Traditional education vs Modern (online) education. Other topics were current affairs and abstract based and if you're a reader, you won't find it difficult. The criteria for admissions are very simple and given on the website. For the preparation for entrance exams kindly follow the CAT preparation strategy. Books like NCERT Maths, RS Agarwal Quantitative aptitude, Any English Practice book and you can prefer online resources. There are 2 rounds. 1st based on cut-off selection and 2nd based on GD&PI filtering.
