Remarks

I took my admission to the College of Fisheries, Berhampur after giving the entrance exam conducted by Orissa University of Agriculture and technology. The selection procedure was completed based on marks obtained in the entrance exam + percentage of marks obtained in the 12th exam and percentage of marks obtained in the 10th board exam. I had joined through the general quota. The age limit is 18 years and the mark limit was a minimum of 45 % in all subjects. Age relaxation is there for quota students. OUAT is the second oldest university in India.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I preferred the course by keeping in the mind expansion of the aqua Industry in the current market. My aim is to serve the people anyhow so I thought I could provide people a good protein source at a cheaper price. All the faculty members are good. There is a good relationship between students and teachers. They are very strict while it's the exam matters.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The internship consists of two Phases. in 1st phase students are attached to the ELP where they do some handsome training in the college. In the 2nd phase, they are attached with different processing companies and educational Institutes for Increasing the practical knowledge of students. During the internship, they are giving a stipend of 3000.

Placement Experience

3.5

From the 8th sem onwards the students are eligible to seat in Campus interviews. Different companies visit colleges for hiring students. The packages vary according to the companies and the performance of students in the interview.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are a little bit higher as compared to the other central agricultural university. I got Ouat merit scholarship and other scholarships like Medha bruti and many other scholarships are given to students to encourage. Many aqua companies came here to hire students. We do ELP in our own pond which is present on the campus itself.

Campus Life

3.5

Generally, all the fest are conducted in the college by keeping in view of students exam and their study. In the month of the winter season, they are generally conducted. There is a students Union which is run by students itself. President is the main person in the Union. Cricket, volleyball, and sprinting dancing-like activities are encouraged.

Hostel Facilities

4

In the hostel, every room is shared by 3 students. it has 3 book selves and 2 fans. The water facility and food are very good. The hostel mess is run by students itself so not that much of a cost. You can manage the cost of living.

Placement Experience:

Students of 8th semester are eligible for campus placements, as far as I know only two companies visited for campus placement for my course, all the campus placements are for btech students, there is no scope for life sciences. In that two companies one company only choosen one person, other company package was very low and work hours are a way exhausting like 8 hours of standing, I plan to complete my masters after this course.

Placement Experience:

After the 8th semester, we become eligible for campus selection. Some feed companies come to choose their employees and few private banks also come occasionally. I don't know the packages. 1% of students get placement. My plan is for pg after degree. But that is too uncertain because there is no such job option. The government post is vacant but we can't get recruitment every year

The college is so much strict, which gives so many problems to some students as they need some demanded facilities for their personal reasons. The food quality is not good and there is no suitable place to do practical for mainly agricultural purpose and researches.
