Remarks

I applied for GMC Haldwani & GDMC Dehradun also. But due to hike in the fees of these colleges I didn't opted fpr these colleges. I belong to the general category hence didn't availed anu quota. The admission in this college is via NEET UG. The age limit is 17+. To opt this college, the AIR should be 4000 - 6000 from All India Quota for general. For State Quota, the minimum required rank is 15000 and below. For admissions, you have to apply online after the result of NEET is announced. You have to upload all the required documents. If you are eligible, you get a selection letter and then you have to go to the college for rest of the formalities.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose this course because of my ambition to become a doctor. I always wanted to treat patients. The faculty: student ratio in some departments is really good as in anatomy and pathology. But in most of the subjects, students have to cope up with very little faculty. All faculty who teach here are MBBS with specializations in their respective subjects. All professors are very good at teaching. They are always ready to help their students. They are very humble and down-to-earth. There are at least 3 terminal exams in each professional exam. Besides this, there are pre-proofs and proofs which are regarded as the final exams for passing the respective professional year. Class tests are frequently taken by the professors. It is difficult to pass the exams but not impossible.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

No companies offer to the interns in the college because these interns work for the government. After the internship, you have to complete your Bond with the government if you have signed it. After completion of the bond, it is your choice with which company you want to work. All interns have only one role that is a doctor. But these interns work under different departments at different times. Only you have to treat the patients under the guidance of a senior doctor.

Placement Experience

4

After the completion of the course, students become eligible for campus placements. And after one year of internship, you are placed in any of the mountain areas if you have signed the bond with the government. Students are places under the Government. The pay is decided by the government. 100% of students passing the MBBS are provided placements by the government. After getting this degree I'll try o qualify NEET PG for specialization in any one branch.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee of the college is 50000 per year with a bond of 5 years to serve in mountain areas. The fee without a bond is 4.5 lakh. Hostel fees are 6000 per year. The scholarship opportunities are only for SC, ST students, and students with specific army backgrounds. There is no financial assistance provided by the college. Few professors do help poor students with books and study material. All students passing out of this college are regarded as Doctors. During one year of internship after completion of MBBS, the stipend provided by govt. Is only 7500. Which is really really the lowest in India.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest is named "Zeal". It is conducted in the month of October-November. There is a huge library on the campus and all the books related to the MBBS are available here. Also, there are 2-3 computers in which the online PG coachings are installed. The classrooms are very well furnished. ACS is installed here. Mic and speakers work fine. Projectors are installed. Classrooms are enough to hold the capacity of 125 students. Extracurricular activities like rangoli competition, dance, singing, etc are organized during the college fest. Sports facilities are good. only a few sports like volleyball, table tennis and badminton are available. GMSA is an organization run by the students of this college. The purpose of this organization is to make more medical facilities available for rural areas. They organize health camps and make people aware of their health.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Hostels provided by the college are not really good. the rooms are too small to hold two people. There is no scope of privacy in the room. The washrooms are not separate. there is always a shortage of water. All the electrical connections are broken and the electrician hardly comes to repair them. eal is provided in the mess. The charges of mess are Rs.3000/month. The quality of meal is very good but not the quantity. Menu is quite good except the breakfast. The hostels are provided after the admission into the college. For the registration of hostel you need to carry a copy of your admission letter and your adhar card. The locality around the college is safe. But its hard to find a room in this locality. The area is already rushed sonewhat. So it is preferable to stay in hostels more safe in the campus. PGs are available at a distance of 4km from here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course from this college due to its hospital. It is one of the best hospitals in uttrakhand. MBBS itself carry an important meaning in once life if they have decided to be a doctor. MBBS teachings here is only done to keep you ready for the real worlds. Case discussions are a regular thing here. Total there are 19 subjects that need to be studied within 4.5 years. Few subjects like PSM, AETCOM module should be scrapped completely. They only waste your time as maximum contents they cover are covered in other subjects and few left could be covered separately. It goes on for 3 years with unnecessary postings and practical where you discuss house dimensions, nutrition, etc.

-Specific aspects is the pattern of exams, that was MCQs pattern and now it has been changed to 50% MCQs and 50% theory. -Curriculum is prepared in the view of clinical knowledge, there are seminars and other group discussion is also added in curriculum apart from classes - The teaching methods should be changed from PPT to ppt + black board, because it's very boring to stare on ppt for an hour - we have to pass 4 exams in one year Mid terminal exam in the end of 3rd month of academic year End terminal exam in the end of 6th month of academic year And two professional exams at the end of the academic year Exams are not difficult, the difficulty level is moderate
