My journey at BIHER.

The selection process for the candidates in B. Tech is done through Bharath Engineering Entrance Examination(BEEE) which is conducted in the month of April followed by counselling and admissions. I always wanted to become a Computer Science engineer and since BIHER is known for its Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, when I got to know that I was selected, I felt really happy. Since BIHER came into the NIRF ranking too that year, it was a plus. The placements of the institute are pretty good. Top product and service based companies like Amazon, Wipro, Accenture visited the campus. The faculty are of a great help too. The only thing that needs some improvement according to me is the infrastructure of the college.

I opted for Computer Science Engineering in BIHER since it is most demanded skill right now. Since BIHER is known for its CSE, hence the number of students pursuing the course are pretty high. Around 1500 students join BIHER in Computer Science field every year. The faculty to student ratio is around 1:60 owing to the large number of students joining this course. The faculty is fine but due to the strength the quality of teaching can degrade sometimes. Two semester examinations are conducted each year along with other internal examinations which if studied properly can be easily manageable.

Companies like Amazon and Wipro, come to the campus with offers for summer internships. Most of my friends and seniors who tried for internships got then through the college. The entire process is carried out by a placement cell and hence they keep us updated with upcoming test and all the companies that are visiting the campus so that we can stay updated. The stipend offered is handsome and ranges from 20-30K per month.

The placements in our college start from the 7th semester and go on up till the 8th semester. Top companies like Amazon, Wipro , Accenture visit the campus both for Jobs as well as for internships. Last year around 30% of the total students got placed and the packages offered ranged from 3.6 LPA to 15 LPA. The average salary was around 6-8 LPA.

The total fee of the course is around 6,00,000 which is divided into 1,50,000 per year for two semesters. Summing up to a total of 8 semesters in 4 years. There are various scholarships that are available for state toppers, BEEE topers and even through the sports quotas. I personally came 89th in the BEEE and received the scholarship with about 50% in the tuition fees.

The crowd and campus life is great. Like most of the colleges there is an annual cultural and technical festival organized in BIHER. Apart from that there are various other events like workshops and seminars that are conducted throughout the year. All in all the campus life is pretty decent in BIHER.

The hostel facility is basically segregated into three categories which are Non AC rooms(Rs 32,500), Non AC rooms with attached washroom ( Rs 42,500) and AC rooms (Rs 65,000) per year. The mess fee is not included and hence the mess is optional for the students and is charged around 50,000 for one year. Since I stayed in AC rooms, I can say that they were pretty comfortable.
