Thorough review of GMERS Himmatnagar

The admission process was online. First, there was a Mock round (practice round). We have to select colleges to which we want to apply. According to our rank and availability of seats, we get our assumed college name. If we want to edit our selected list of colleges, we can. Then in 1st round, the process is the same but once we get our college name, we cannot edit it for 2nd round and we have to take admission over there only. After completion of 2 online rounds, there was one offline round at Gandhinagar.

I always wanted to become a Doctor, so I have selected the course. There are around 8 professors in one department for 150 students. There can be more or less. All the facilities have done MD or MS in their respective fields. We have practicals and theory sessions in the 1st and 2nd year and only practical sessions in the final year. Internals, prelims and University exams are held from time to time but due to Covid, the duration has prolonged.

For 6 months we have to an internship in our college only and for next 6 months, we can go elsewhere. The internship here is divided into batches. We have night duty, morning duty and afternoon duty. We have to do an internship for one month in each branch such as medicine, surgery, obgy, etc.

Fees are Rs. 300000/year for government quota, 7.86 lac/year for management quota. There is no college scholarship but if you fit in the criteria of MYSY yojna, you can get 50% fees back in government quota and 2 lac in management quota every year providing your result is above 50%. There are no jobs for students but after the final year we have to do an internship compulsory, so we get a stipend at that time.

No annual fest or any fest is conducted now. Earlier we used to celebrate the days and sports week in March. Freshers' party is only there. There is one Library and one E-Library. Books are sufficiently available over there. We have a gym and play area where different indoor games are available. We have 2 badminton courts. Classrooms are big, spacious and airy. One can never get bored in class. They are air conditioned.

Hostel facilities are good. 3 persons share one room. The quality of the study table, chair, bed, the mattress is very good. The staff is cooperative. The only drawback is we have a common washroom though they are sufficient in number. There are 10 floors. 14 rooms/floor. 1st floor has a mess, gym and tv room for the girl's hostel. Mess food is not very good but comparatively eatable. Tiffin services are there. There are rooms available for rent in nearby areas.
