Remarks
Nothing really though but the process of completion of paperwork is really tiring but the again it's the same in every college.
Entrance Preview
There is no particular entrance exam for the course I opted in the end. But there was counseling and seats were given on the basis of the percentage and merit scored in intermediate. I was already a national player of taekwondo so I got seat through sports quota. Being a general caste the chances of getting into my college were dim with 80%. But I got through. I chose to go with B.Com Honors because it was a fundamentally tough field which gave importance to other subjects such as tax and business law and coding. So it could be said that while studying Honors I studied B.Com Computers, Taxation, General. So it was too good a course to be missed. And that is why I chose to study it.
Course Curriculum Overview
I think the course curriculum was definitely something which I would give double thumbs up. My university followed the semester system, exams twice a year unlike the other colleges where it is exams in every three months. And to even up the score potential we were given extra marks for internal tests and projects. So the chances for percentage hike was more if u were ready to study hard.
Internships Opportunities
Yes our college does provide internship. But the company HR first comes and interviews the students regarding the job. If they find the student to be well into the job criteria then those student are given the chance for internship. The stipend is normal starting salary of any new joinees. It can be from Rs.10000 including project bonuses or Rs.15000. The experience was full of information and learning new things and what to expect when we go out and looking forward to the start of our career.
Placement Experience
Many companies came for the campus drive but I don't remember all of them so I will take names of few which I remember. Or most aptly in which I gave an interview. There was Concentrix, Wipro, ADP etc. They were providing a package of Rs.250000 p.a.
College Events
I think any college one day or other has some functions going on. We celebrated all the festivals and had concerts and ceremonial college functions. There was yearly college festivals where we use to arrange games and dance competition and use to invite celebrities and hold concerts. These were held for a period of three or four depending upon the list of competitions. Cultural festivals were held in lieu of the college with student's participating and lots of more fun things. Not only these science department of our college is famous for coming with amazing things which have been printed in magazines and such. As our campus is huge we always invite other colleges to come join us on these festivities and most of the time to compete.
Fee Structure And Facilities
In my college, B.Com Honors is the costliest course out of the others. But still it is less than other colleges but as I was not a scorlarship student I had to pay the fees every year where was every other student were reimbursed. If you guys are St it SC this is a place where you will fit right in. Being a general will itch.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college gives money to the merit students and nothing else. But the college has tie in with the government for the scholarship availability scheme. Basically it means that the students can avail reimbursement from the govt for the fees and the govt returns the money back. I think it's a very cool scheme. But it's provided for ST/SC/OBC or general too. Rarely general but the case has to be strong to avail.
Campus Life
My college is a all womens college. So I was surrounded by women all the time so about sexual orientation I don't know anything about that. They were lots of parties but sadly I am nt aware of any dorm parties as such or if there was any I was not invited to one. My college is all for religion and ethnicity. The population of Muslim students and Hindu students is equal. Foreign students are treated as equally as the resident student are treated. Politically our college doesn't support any kind of political party. It has always stayed neutral and will be the same in the coming years. The economic status of our college is in demand recently completing our 94 years. It is one of the oldest and grandest college in my city.
Hostel Facilities
I was not a hostel kid but I have friends who stayed in our college hostel. I will share their experience. The hostel room is provided from the second year. And No we don't have to pay anything. The college takes care of that. The sleeping arrangements and washroom are not top of the line but are good enough so that you won't be able to complain. The matron of the hostel is strict and does her duty remarkably. But is also very helpful.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes. The alumni network is fast working and providing update progressingly fast. The alumni are a bunch of cool people who are always kind to their juniors and very informing.
Exam Structure
I think we had the best exam structure. Only twice a year we had to write exams which is called external exam. And then we also had internal test for only 10 marks which was added to the external exam marks. It is a good structure as the potential for getting percentage is more and you are not tensed about exams the whole year. It was not hectic nor chill. It was somewhere in between. Due to this exam structure you could concentrate on other activities. But I would never exchange this for anything.
Faculty
My college had the best faculty. They were supportive and always encouraged us to reach our full potential. They never forced anything on us. Were always behind us if we were unable to complete certain projects. They used to help us with the research. It was a good experience for everyone.
