Remarks
Since always I've wanted to enter the medicinal field so as to help others, and among them, my best choices were either cardiology or physiotherapy. I chose Amar Jyoti Institute of physiotherapy because of its well-maintained reputation on physical and mental rehabilitation and the work done in both these fields by the professors present here. The College is close to my home and as it also comes under DU, this college was one of my first choices. The admission was done on the basis of an entrance exam and then an interview taken by senior professors including the college principal. I was actually informed about this college by a relative of mine who was actually a long-time patient at the facilities' physiotherapy rehab center. The campus is an open and free space. Even though we haven't actually gotten the chance to visit the college for classes, the few occasions I visited left me with warm feelings, it indeed is a wonderful place.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum for a 1st and 2nd-year student is actually on par with an MBBS student if we take the amount of material to be reviewed and learner into account. Because of the pandemic the classes aren't exactly all easy not being in a physical classroom and not having face-to-face interaction with the professors makes learning somewhat tough but there are many professors who have overcome the hurdle of the online classes. 95% of our teachers are senior MBBS MD professionals with years of medical experience both in the physiotherapy field and in the field of after process rehabilitation. The material taught is immediately reviewed in the last couple of minutes of the class which makes self-revision easier. Even exams were taken on time, the time lag caused due the pandemic was managed by the professors and taught us accordingly.
Internships Opportunities
The College after successfully completing the degree gives a paid 6-month internship to various reputed hospitals as acting in staff. The job to be performed may differ, you may be an onward duty doctor or simply a senior physician's assistant but if the work being done is honest and good, you may land a job at the same infrastructure without much of a hassle.
Placement Experience
The placement in the college is good, The Placement Cell of the college helps students, they guide and bring good internship opportunities and also helps with training and mock interviews. Different companies visit colleges and pick talented students. Students are hired by hospitals and private practitioners who have opened their clinics, though many students prefer further education.
Fees and Financial Aid
If the fact that the college is a medical college with a physical and mental rehabilitation center adjoined to it, the fee structure can be said to the tolerable but if we take the campus size and general college facilities into account then the fee structure may seem a little high. The scholarship of Rs12000/- is awarded to one meritorious student from the final year on annual basis. The selection is on the basis of attendance, marks, etc., and also selected candidates to have to appear for test and interview.
Campus Life
There hasn't been anything of that sort because of the ongoing pandemic. The most that we've been told is that there are clubs in both cultural and sports categories and many competitions do occur but covid-19 has made everything impossible. The college has a library having 4000+ books and has 4 computers. Students can issue books according to their choice. Indoor games like table tennis, carrom, and chess are available. Sports Facilities like volleyball, badminton, basketball, athletics, and archery are also available.
Interview Experience
The admission was a 2 step process. The selected applicants had an entrance exam covering the subjects of chemistry, biology, and physics of the last 2 years of school and then the ones who pass a certain margin are allowed and called in for an interview which is taken by senior professors and staff. The interview included future job regarding questions as well as academic and general knowledge questions. I kept my basic strong and it was not that tough also. You just have to be confident and should have the basic knowledge.
