Pooja Sathish Kumar's Review On Sacred Heart College - [SH], Ernakulam

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course syllabus our college follows is the latest updated syllabus which changes every year. The course I have chosen is travel and tourism we have the opportunity to have one day tours twice in a year. The faculty members are well educated but i feel lack the subject knowledge. They have their expertise in their own feilds but when it comes to teaching they are given subjects random where they'll have to teach without having in depth knowledge in it. For instance a teacher who has a degree in the feild of tourism is put to teach a class e-commerce and a teacher whose feild is marketing is put to teach accountancy which makes us difficult to understand since they themselves don't have the proper information to convey us.

Placement Experience :

The placements are good. They have the best companies in the country seeking students from our college such as TATA, wipro, Ernst & Young, Deliotte and so on. The placement selection start with a test from which few students will be screened out and the rest will be through to the second test again screening out few others leaving the rest qualifying to the interview stage. The students qualified in the interview stage are given placement. Some of the previous batch students had visited the college who have pursued their careers in travel and tourism and have started their own resorts in there hometowns at Kerala.

College Events :

Our college is a great supporter of all cultures and tradition and never miss to celebrate any festival. They make sure all occasions are held in a grand way by inviting celebrities. Not only the fun but they ensure to send a great message by doing something good for the society.

Campus Life :

The infrastructure provided is pretty good. There are plenty of college teams. Our college was initially a boys college which later changed to mixed have brought opportunities for the female population to participate in sports at state level and soon national level. One of the most spectacular place in our college is without a doubt the library. It's one of the most biggest libraries any college would have. The collection of books is endless. The labs are good but most equipments don't work and are worn out.

Placement Experience:

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
