Remarks

I was always interested in computers, and I joined this course in need of more practical knowledge as compared to theory and this college provides it really well. Also it is near to my house and very affordable.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course syllabus is continuously updated accordingly. And we do have industrial training. Also the faculties are good. Physics lab is well occupied with tools. And also in English lab, we are provided with projector and computers to practice our communication skills.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 90000 per year

Placement Experience

At the end of year, career fest is organised for students in last year. Various companies from different streams come to the college, setup themselves in different rooms and interview students. And students are selected on the spot for different jobs.

College Events

We have a Science Fair every year. Different schools as well as every student in the college participates in it. Different activities and events are planned. Sports fest are organised as well. Different games are organised for students, teachers as well as for helpers and security guards.

Campus Life

Infrastructure of the college is okay. However, we do have a canteen and stationary, library, workshops and labs. Also in the main campus there is a running ground, swimming areas, basketball, tennis, football, volleyball and badminton courts.

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum

My mother and her brother passed out from thapar polytechnic. She thought it would be better for me to start my professional education as soon as possible and it will later help me when i enter Btech. I did find hard to study subjects like chemistry and physics but was always interested in computers, so thapar polytechnic gave me a way out from school and i still can persuade my dreams without going through +1, +2 and jee. So overall i thought it was a good choice as the subjects here make a lot more sense and are practically easier to imply. Similar subjects are taught in btech so it'll give me a slight advantage over the students who are doing it for the first time. I think i made the right choice....Read More
