Remarks

i still wish to relive my college days again. i miss my college very much.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum was as per the university guidelines but the whole credit goes to the faculty and the principle in charge for maintaining the decorum of the college and implying the required necessary discipline for the betterment of college as well as for the students.

Placement Experience

5

When i was a student at that time there was no culture of placements till graduation so i cannot say much about that

College Events

5

Every year participation in youth festival, with as many number of participations as possible in different segments like painting, debate competition, gidda, bhangra, and poem recitation etc.other cultural programs were organised within the premises of the college like teej celebrated in the month of sawan with swings tied on the trees, the churiwala, mehndiwala, and a dholi for performing the local folk dance gidda. The other festivals like diwali and lohri were also celebrated with the same spirit in the college and of course the yearly farewell for the graduating students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

surprisingly at that time i was supposed to pay only Rs 800-900 as my admission fee for the whole year and quarterly i had to pay only 400-500 rs only. where as other private colleges were charging rs. 25000-30000 annually for the same course. but to my luck i got a chance to study in such a college with best teaching at so affordable fee.

Campus Life

it was a women's college and no boys allowed lot of sports activities were arranged and for annual day it was mandatory for each and every student was to participate.

Admission

At the time of admission in to B Com Guru Nanak Dev university held B,Com Entrance est which will become base of getting admission into different colleges. As per my marks attained in 12th Class i was not going to get admission in Saroop Rani Government college for women, Amritsar but then came the entrance exam and with help of coaching i scored a good rank and got through to get selected for a seat in Government college. I feel myself lucky that in that year the university held the common entrance test for B.Com otherwise i would never have been able to get a chance to study at such a revered college.

Faculty

5

The faculties of the college are worth remembering as they gave each and every student their personal attention ensuing their proper studies as well as the discipline. the college management staff ensured the attendance of the students for heir mandatory lectures so that they get a good result. Bunking of classes was almost nil and even the gatekeeper did his duty very religiously.

We were offered placement assistance as it was an online program and i really think it is a good initiative because college are least bothered for placements for their online programs. As i had to pursue a career in marketing i started doing projects and internships in marketing and sales domain.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.
