B.Tech IT in JIT

The Course curriculum is very nice here, and the faculties are very helpful and encouraging. The total strength of our IT Batch is 62 students. The Department of Information Technology is associated with Computer Society of India ? Chennai Chapter (CSI). Along with normal lecture classes and practical sessions, the department maintains individual course pages which hosts the Syllabus, Lesson Plan, Lecture Notes and other reading materials to conduct Value added courses like Cyber security, Machine Learning, Robotics Process Automation (RPA), Internet of Things(IOT), Data Science and Big data Analytics, Interactive web designing and Progressive Java and Android Application Development. The exam structure is same as othe Anna University affiliated colleges. Three internals are conducted and the internal marks are added up, which is then added to the semester marks.

Regular training programs are conducted to enhance our employability. The training programs mainly focuses on enhancing the soft skills and programming ability. The training given in the Placement Cell is innovative and extra-ordinary. The aptitude tests and GD sessions in the placement training are enjoyed the most. In addition to the co-curriculum activities, we are always loaded up with a wide range of value-added courses in order to improve and refine our overall potential. In the academic year 2019-2020, around 70% of the students got placed in reputed companies. Some of the top Recruiting companies are L&T, HCL Technologies Ltd., TCS, Wipro. The highest package offered was 4.0 LPA and the least was 2.5 LPA.

JIT charges very nominal tuition fee when compared to the other colleges. The tuition fee includes books, practicals, labs, many incentives and other facilities for every student. Tution Fee is ?62,000/annum and the Accomodation, Food and Transportation fee is around ?75,000/annum, which I think is quite affordable for most students. Also, there are plenty of scholarships available for meritorious students and some need-based students.

JIT is a home to many great events. There happens to be two types of events, namely Cultural and Technical. Cultural programs include singing, drawing, debate, poetry, dancing competitions and many more. Some of the Tech events include talent showcase (technical), circuit debugging, line follower, hackathons, coding competitions, gaming tournaments, and other tech related events. The college also hosts many inter-department and inter-college sports tournaments on basketball, football, cricket and all other indoor games. Periodic guest lectures, workshops are organized by the college to give an edge in the career over other college students. This facilitates us to enrich our knowledge and to update according to the current industry trends.

We have a strong Alumni team who are placed in well reputed MNCs? across the globe from Cognizant, Microsoft, TCS, Amazon, L&T, etc. Despite their busy schedule, they make themselves available on the campus to help other students during the placement training process by conducting mock interviews, group discussions, guest lectures, and motivational talks.

So, after I finished my 10+2 board exams, I did a thorough research on the Engineering Colleges which provide quality education and that's when I came across Jeppiaar Institute of Technology. Being an affiliated college under the Anna University, JIT has top-notch faculty and great education experience all at a very affordable price. The admission process is quite easy as compared to other Engineering colleges. I cleared my 10+2 examination with good percentage which helped me get a decent cut-off. The cut-off was then taken into consideration for the counselling conducted by TNEA where I applied for B.Tech in Information Technology at JIT and luckily I got selected in the degree program of the college.

Though the main focus is on our academic excellence, faculty members do motivate us to participate in technical activities for enhancing their fundamental technical knowledge. The faculty regularly encourages us to participate in various inter-disciplinary and industry sponsored contests as well as cultural events in and outside the college. Most of the Professors have a PhD degree and are great contributors in their respective fields of study.
