Remarks
St Mira's college is very well known in pune. I had my expectations high for the college but it didn't turn out so well. admission was quick and easy. research on the internet prior to my admission . college being well known and Autonomous had a very great rating on sites like collegedunia, shiksha.com, etc. this college has a very strict faculty unlike other colleges. college life is almost non existent.. attending prayer sessions everyday is a hectic job and the campus is almost 30+ years old and has no lifts( for students) if you're a girl/woman seeking admission to a strict, enclosed institution with non judgmental peer then you can surely apply. and students who want a very active ,luxurious social life should definitely drop the idea to join this college... college fees is reasonably priced but paying thousands for every quarterly exam is kinda stressful. also some teachers are very rude and strict at times but other than that it's alright.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose bba(computers) because I always wanted to become a database administrator. the teaching faculty for BBA-CA course is alright-ish. there's not much fuss about getting the admission unlike other under- graduate degrees. above 60% in 12th grade can land you a seat in this college. the ratio is a bit unsettling it's 1:80 . teachers often assign a tonne of homework monthly and students don't get a lot of time to comprehend to what is being taught. people good at math and computers must opt for this course but if ones not good at it I'd recommend choosing another course, probably BBA. exams are organised once in a 6 month duration and are pretty lengthy. passing the exams are not a biggie here but the examination and correction section could've been better. I don't usually get the marks I expected.
Placement Experience
students are eligible for campus placement in semester 5-6. campus recruiters won't consider the student if she has a pending backlog in any year. mainly firms like tata, Accenture hire students directly from the campus. personally I'd go for a masters after bca (:
Fees and Financial Aid
fees is pretty cheap if compared to other colleges in the city. if the student is from a financially unstable background they can even get fees 100% waived .. paying extra fees for library and sanctuary seems pretty useless to me. campus selection is good but not satisfactory. students are often offered jobs in other cities while pune being an IT hub sounds p weird. I've heard students talking about companies like tata, accenture hiring them in the third year. College also introduces different types of internships(mainly unpaid) to the students in the first year.
Campus Life
college holds very rare college fests and sometimes music fests. I've never been a fan of the fests in my college. military training camps are held and the sports section mainly emphasizes on yoga and other athletics. library has college and course related books but not in a big quantity it does take some time to get the book issued . classrooms have a pc to themselves along with a projector. no college life.
