ANBARASI SELVAKUMAR's Review On EGS Pillay Engineering College, Nagapattinam

My college is located at Thethi, Nagapattinam, and is one of the very good institutions under Anna University affiliation(now Autonomous. Our college participates in the Anna university Single window counseling with code 3806. Then a selection of courses UG- ECE, Mech, EEE, CSE, Civil, and IT disciplines. PG courses like MTech, MBA offered here. Our college is not a single institution it's a group of Institutions ranging from EGS Pillay Engineering college EGSP Arts and Science college EGSP Polytechnic college

I chose Electronics and Communication Engineering. The teacher-student ratio is 1:4. All our faculties are well qualified and experienced in teaching. All of the faculties are aware of the real-life challenges and problems to which engineers are exposed. Also, provide us with knowledge regarding the exams and job opportunities for ECE engineers. Our faculty follow different and very effective teaching methods. We have daily tests on alternative days and have modal exams prior to semester exams. Thus it will give us time management practice during the main semesters.

The training and placement department is one of the most active department of the college. They provide us with round the year training classes. From the 3rd year (5th Sem) the placement activities gear up. As in prefinal year, more focussed training is given to students. Big brands including Wipro, TCS, Data Pattern and successful names like MuSigma etc have been recruiting. Avg package ranges from 2LPA to 8 LPA. Profiles starting from programmer, developer, Tester, and also in the core product lines. Almost 50% of the students have been placed. The rest have either opted out from the placement activities or not accepted the offers. I had got offer letters from 2 companies and joined one of them. But now I am focusing on my PG and preparing for the GATE examination.

The fees for the counseling students is about Rs 35000 + Rs 5000(One time fees for seat allotment) = Rs 40000. And after which every semester Rs 35000 along with the other charges such as Exam fees, books, Lab fees, Sports and other co-curricular and extracurricular activities etc. There are scholarships provided to students from economically weaker backgrounds, First graduate and Sports scholarship also available. We have Job fairs, yearly Recruitment drives both pool drive and exceptionally for our college. Training and mentoring given for many national-level talent tests for job recruitment. Students are placed in good numbers. In both IT sector and Core engineering companies.

4 years of student life was a memorable journey. We had a lot of opportunities to prove ourselves. And the faculties and college management has always encouraged us with Annual Tech fest, cultural meet for colleges during Women's Day, and other regional festivities. We were provided with library access and can refer to books from both local and foreign authors. The library also had competitive exam preparatory books.

The admission process followed by the Single window Counselling conducted by Anna University. And also the college provides admission through management quota i.e. the students who cannot participate in counseling can directly get admission through the college(they will be allotted seats only after the counseling seats are filled).
