Remarks

A Very Good Remark is - The Institute Trust their students and believe in their capabilities.A Bad Remark is - No proper connect with the passed out candidates.

Entrance Preview

I have faced AIEEE and OJEE. In both examination I scored around 4000 rank in the state of Orissa. Although, I was getting Government Institutes for Industrial Studies in Electronics but I preferred to do a major in Computer Science and Engineering and thus chosen to Roland Institute of Technology.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The institute runs under the aegis of BPUT (Biju Patnaik University of Technology) and AICTE, thus the curriculum was strictly in accordance to university guidelines. The BPUT is mentored by IIT Kharagpur so the curriculum was pretty much same as IIT Kharagpur.

Internships Opportunities

I have did my internship at National Aerospace Laboratories at CSIR 4PI (Earstwhile CSIR C-MMACS) with a minimal stipend of 4500 INR. The college did not provided any internship on their own but students were encouraged to look for a research institution on their own. I was highly appreciated for the internship work and stipend was fully funded by my institute on actual.

Placement Experience

2

The institute was certainly not a great platform in providing placement. However, the institute build great capabilities in the students to embark for a good job. Average number of students got through Indian IT/IS companies like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, IBM GBS etc with salaries ranging from 2.5 LPA to 4 LPA. There are quite a few people got through product companies like IBM STG, American MegaTrends, Qualcomm, Cray Inc. and so on with salaries ranging from 8 LPA to 12 LPA.

College Events

3.5

There are plenty of events that used to happen in the college every 6 months. Every year there used to happen a ISTE event and Annual Day. In addition, every department used to organize their department specific events like Software Freedom Day by Computer Science and Engineering, Robotics Event by Mechanical Engineering division and so on. The entire college student crowd used to gather for such events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I will call the fee structure was very descent as compared to nearby colleges. Well, 5 years back my parents were full filing my needs for study so no burden for me, but net net when I asked this question to my parents, they also never felt it burdened. The fee was half that of neighboring college fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan facility is available from State Bank of India and Union Bank of India. No Scholarship as such available but there are various agency who funds active scholars. The students have to search on their own and will be supported by the institute.

Campus Life

2.5

I just love it and miss those days. I wish I go back to those days. The fun parties, the funny friends, jokes cracked from back bench and so on.The late time classes, the bus to the city and some times up and down between friends.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

It was descent. Not a great hostel but food was great. The Hostel fee including lunch, dinner, breakfast and evening snacks was around 20000 per year.

Alumni/Alumna

The college as such does not have a alumni network, but a lot of students are well connected through social networking sites like Google+, Facebook, Tweeter, LInkedin and WhatsApp. Certainly I feel the college lags in connecting with their passed out candidates.

Exam Structure

Exam during the first two years was very hectic and last two years are chilled out. There are 8 Semester exam and each semester will have 3 Internal exams. So a total of 48 Exams.

Faculty

3.5

Education Quality wise, I will not call the faculties are of great standard but certainly like every organization there are good, better and best people. There are few awsome faculties and there are few who are just there to be there as per rules. One thing I must say, all faculties are very friendly and supportive in nature.

Placement Experience:

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.

I choose this course because at first I was interested to automobile engineering but I didn't got it from other college so I preffered this mechanical engineering. It is a very though course as it seems. And there was 1:7 for faculty and student ratio. Faculties were highly qualified and some did PhD and m. Tech and other are fresher. The teaching skill differ person to person. The thermodynamics faculty was very excellent. In every year there was 2 semester and it is a little difficult. And before semester there was internal and viva.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Padmanava College of engineering is coming under Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT , odisha). As there is always a myth about private colleges that they help in cheating but from my experience padmanava College is strictly against cheating and rather it supports quality of education. If you are a hard working student you will pass the exam very easily.
